Nice find! There are a lot of deals to be found on Craigslist if you stay on it real regular and sort through the bull. Both my 64 Sunbeam vintage racer and my 69 Cale Yarborough Cyclone came from there as well as an 84 1/2 Mustang GT-350 . My 56 Ford was also found on there and I traded the guy another car that I had traded for off of CL. I can relate to having to be quick as was in the case of the Cylone I went to the guys house when he wouldn't anser his phone and happened to be the first one there and his phone was ringing off the hook.
TAMPA.................. bet garlits has called by now!!!!!! good find.glad some ones having some luck
Finally got her home safe and sound!! Parts turned out to be mostly the stuff that came off of the car with the exception of new bumpers.
That's exactly what happened to it. The widow showed me a picture from 1991 where the car looked great. To add insult to injury, he parked it next to the driveway where the automatic sprinklers nailed it twice a week. The left side looks great, the right side is rusty.
wow ...that's awesome. I never go on craigs list for stuff, maybe i need to start looking there for my parts list. Congrat's on the roadster! It looks like you did real good on that find Have tons of fun with it. Grace and peace, CAB
I got her running today with nothing more than a charged up battery! Went to drive her around the block but the clutch was chatterung real bad so I decided not to.
NICE! You have to be fast on CL if it's something you're interested in.I've lost out on a few cars that were listed 15 minutes before I called...they were already SOLDOne guy I called said the guy who called before me offered him $300.00 more then he listed the vehicle for just to guarantee he'd hold it.Sure enough I call an hour later and that guy bought it for the asking price plus the $300.00 I could never do that, pay more for a vehicle sight unseen.
I paid $5 more than the $3,995 she was asking for it becuase she didn't have change! But she did call me back later when she found a pair of brand new polished stainless steel rear bumpers under a workbench in the garage! Here is what her listing said "1929 Ford Model A Ragtop Roadster, original motor runs, rumble seat compartment, needs TLC, would make a great project car, estate sale, $3,995 phone 727-821-****"
great score! craigslist got me the cabover in my avitar for free! drove it on and off the trailer and even ran down the ***le! just happened to be the first caller also.
Anyone care to take a guess where the...whew..."safe and sound" in my garage is now.....c'mon take a guess.....thats right.... bet any one of the other ten dudes who called may have actually appreciated the find..... I would be down right ashamed of myself if I came on the HAMB where people really do love this type of **** and would enjoy building this car...only to get the nice scores and ya buddys.....then sell it on ebay....with out offering it to those who YOU sought praise from. If you offered it up here first my appoligies....if not, take a hike dude...
I brought the car home and immediately got a "Notice of Violation" from the Home Owner's ***ociation. Apparently they have had there eye on me since I moved here recently and think the Model A is a "junk car". They also cited me for my "open bed truck", my car hauling trailer, my "stained roof" on the house, my "incorrect" mailbox and leaving my garage door open. I've been here for less than a month and the roof and mailbox were like that when I got here. Ahh, the joys of meeting new neigbors. Don't get me wrong, my house is one of the nicest in the neighborhood and it's perfectly landscaped and picture perfect. I guess it's just ME that doesn't fit in. I wondered why the car seemed to get so much attention while I was powerwashing it in the driveway the other day! I thought the neighbors were diggin it! LOL Since I just moved I've got boxes and general junk along with my other 18' enclosed trailer full of parts and tools in the garage so the Model A must go. And no, my car days are not over. I just need to figure out the best strategy and that might take a little time.
Hey, I've offered several cars here and never got so much as a nibble with one exception. The one car I did sell on here I got screwed by the buyer. This one has to go semi-fast (21 days according the violation notice) and the only way I know to do that is to put on the Bay with no reserve. Also, there is a rule about listing cars in the cl***ifieds AND on e-bay because they pulled the listing. I also put the car on there with an opening bid MUCH less than what I paid for it with no reserve. Now, can we just let this go while I start hunting for a nice, shiney car with a real loud exhaust?
LOL, dont you hate neighborhood ***ociations? I got an idea, tell them you just got back from Barret Jackson, and the car they are calling "junk" was once owned by Albert Einstein, and you just paid $120,000 for it. Also, be sure to call them on the existing roof and mailbox issues. If they balk, tell them your a Canadian Ambasador, and you have diplomatic immunity.
You have got people posting on this thread expressing interest in it if you want to sell it and you put it on Ebay.... Fla is short enough on old cars as it is you should have relisted it on Craigslist and tryed to help out the loca car guys rather than the world. I wouldnt be supprised if the car goes out of the country let alone Florida. And guys please stop posting about Craigslist and the deals, the more people that know about it the more stuff you wont have the chance to get !
