Besides, the PPE body had already BEEN RACED as a trunk-less coupe. That's how he bought it....

  3. Still not a great arguement as mentioned above although not exactly the same Plowboy is clearly very inspired by guys like Roth and Starbird who were doing this type of car in the 60's. He has just brought it back to the forefront and used slightly different construction methods.

    Really ?

The first time i saw that car it was kinda Derilict Model A coupe with the back chopped off & an A pick up bed installed.

Like the did in the Depression for extra gas rations.

Maybe Axle will come in with a Story to set it straight, But from what i remember from Way back when Marky first got it on the road, It HAD been a Hot Rod ... But not a RACE Car

You would know better than I... when I had the PPE website up way back when I was told he bought it like that.... meaning it was already modified. I'm not ever above being wrong... :D

The PPE pretty much rules. It's capable, fun, and tastefully radical. Sometimes this car gets a bad rap. I don't know why.

Way back there was a thread where some dude trashed the PPE, then went on another thread praising Deaths Doorstep.

    Deaths Doorstep rules too.

  9. ...what was this thread about?...oh yeah...
Knock it off? OK...why not just build another Milner coupe? (which I love to see, I don't care how many are out there, they are still cool)...
As impractical or "un-traditional" as it may be, the PPE exemplifies the essence of our inspiration to "knock off" the ideas of great machines we have seen in the past and make it our own...how many Model A traditional rods are out there? Whoops...

OK...I'm obsessed with this car too. I've parted with all of my past Jeep and 60s land yachts so I could knock it off too.

I love the car! just to bad it has things like the axle welded to the frame in the back, or has he fixed that yet?

  13. My lil 31 Hotrod Vicki is PPE inspired...Never enteneded on it to look or be like the PPE, but inspiration comes from other cars and builders...ALL of our creations do...
There are no "original" concepts anymore, just different versions rides we desire then we recreate in our quest for the best we can achieve...
Mine will be blown and difficult to see out of and be scary to drive at most speeds...but hell, that's always been my goal!

I'm surprised that no one has posted a picture of that tiny Fiat (I think thats what it is) that runs around the Nationals every year. It's black w/flames and finished to the nines. It's running some sort of blown V8 and appears to be all engine and tire. The guy cruises it all over the place and it is loud and obnoxious (perfect:D), seems to have no overheating problems. Its' simply gorgeous. I caught him sitting in traffic one time and leaned in to tell him,"you do realize your quite insane don't you?" He shrugged his shoulders, smiled and left with the front tires dangling in the air as traffic cleared.

I love the ppe, but i know some that hate it. I think its so popular because it so damn knarley, and mean. Its one of those rods that everyone says they would like to get behind the wheel of, but truth be known when that thing fired they would shat in their britches.

I never liked that car... maybe if the motor was lower in the frame, looks like it's up on stilts. all the old examples shown here in pics are all way better looking than the PPE... more well proportioned.

I do like the concept.. but in my eye I'd say he dropped the ball somewhere along the line

I can not agree more, the cars motor is really the only thing going for it but if you look at the photo thats on here its puking oil all over the parking lot.

When it came out in Rod and Custom, the months following the letters to the editor kept hammering how dangerous and unpractical the car really was and they could not believe they would put a piece of crap like it in the magazine.

It's been fixed.... The Bean Bandits were helping him with a rear suspension with coil overs mounted sideways and stuff. At least that's how it was the last time I saw it...

People that write letters to the editors of magazines to trash cars they don't have the sense to appriciate should spend their time a little more wisely. Maybe they could even build a car or two.

    Unpractical? It better be! :D

I love the PPE, It's proportions are so off the wall..it looks fantastic. It has a cartoony look to it..Which I love, I mean it looks like something Roth would have drawn (or has drawn) up for a t-shirt..only there isnt no monster hanging out of the roof... :)

When I think back over the last ten years or so, there are a handfull of cars that will always stick in my mind, one of the best is the PPE. I remember somebody brought that mag to work to show me and I flipped out, I just sat there during my lunch hour and stared at it. Everybody has thier opinions and I respect that, but to say it's a stupid car because it's impractical and unsafe? That pretty much covers most cars on this board.

By the way, OSHA calls PPE Personal Protection Equipment. Kinda ironic huh.
