I don't guess you had to build your own hot rod even in the 60's. I think the roadster belonged to a gold chainer. LOL
I might try to scan and post more ads later.

Back in the 80s I put exhaust on a 34 roadster. The owner said that he found the ad in the back of Hotrod. Obviously he still had the car and the magazine. I started reading car magazines from the back first just because of these ads.

On one of the old flathead sites some idiot started posting ads copied word for word from the old magazines. It almost started an internet riot.

I remember that. It was quite a few years ago. I fell for it for a second. Too good to be true...

  9. Here are a few I dug out of some early 60's Hot Rod mag. The Adurn guy was still around last year but did not have the engine anymore.;)

  10. a friend of mine bought some Hemmings at a swap meet that were from the 60's. after we left and were on our way home , we thought it would be fun to call on a few ads...actually found one owner in Madison Wisconsin. he had advertised a `34 Ford with a 283 chevy for $600. he was willing to talk , but the car was long gone . he got real kick out of the call...he was still messing with old Fords , and gave us a few laughs too

Classifieds in HOT ROD and ROAD & TRACK damn near paid the tab back in the 50's and 60's for the whole magazine! If you were in a hurry to sell your car or parts, you put an ad in National Dragster, Competition Press (now AutoWeek) or Drag News as they were weekly publications. No credit cards or personal checks, just plain old unmarked bills or cashiers checks.

Mazooma, I love the as for the sub 10 sec. go-kart. The guy probably made one pass at that speed and they couldn't get him back on it at gun-point. With your butt that close to the pavement 50mph feels like you're flying I can't imagine 150. One thing about it, if you lost control of the thing it would be over in a hurry.

That Silver Sapphire looks an awful lot like the "Ala Cart" at first glance.

DocWatson and ProEnfo are messin with you man, it IS the Lil Deuce Coupe! For $2900 dollars, you probably couldn't buy that car today for $290,000. What year was that add?? Don't you wonder who bought it then and how much they beat the guy down? Will you take $2500 for it? HAha, love those old adds.

I posted this over on the Performance Years Pontiac board a while back, it's from the November 1974 Hot Rod. It turned out that one of the guys on the board actually bought the car from the ad and owned it for a number of years.
