I want to see all the race cars owned here on the Hamb. It doesn't matter what kind of Hamb friendly race car just so long as it is a full race car only. Tell us a little story about it and what/where you race or used to...
If you've painted numbers on your doors that doesn't count as a race car.
Let's see what's out there... Lucky

well at least the hefty side bars and bullbar protected the body pretty well!

Not really HAMB-worthy but here is my drag car. 1989 Mustang. 347 stroker with 150 shot of spray, C4 with a brake. Went 10.20 @127 off the trailer last season. Looking to dyno tune it in the spring and go 9's.

Been posted around a bit before, and still under construction, but here's my Dart. It's a '65 with a '66 nose on it.
No one makes good fiberglass stuff for it so we built our own, although I used carbon fiber, not for weight, for durability. The frames been stretched 12" and wheelbase shoved forward 10" Motor is pushed back 6" (didn't want it too far into cowl) and it'll run either a Hilborn injected or 6:61 blown max wedge. I always like this very short period of drag racing's history, door slammer funny cars, between the age of the gassers and the flip tops. I plan to just run low nines/ high eights with it, ten inch pie crust slicks, let it spin, etc. Should be fun.

The #16 was built in tribrute to a car that was run in Barnwell area of South Carolina during the 60's. The 56 Ford was built to the old school standards and is running a big block 406 FE.

Car #44 is a 55 Ford, that I'm part owner of, we built it to honor my partners departed Dad, Don Ward. Don was a car builder/owner in the Chicago Area and had many Championships. The #44 was well known. This one sports a Big Block 390 FE.

#84 was found in a junk yard around Newport TN. It raced that area in the 60's & early 70's. I drug her home restored her and raced her. The 55 Chevy runs in a limited division and is powered by an inline 250 six banger.

It isn't quite ready, but it is getting closer. This is 'Piggy' a 67 Nova SS with most of the original body all else being SFI spec chassis with a 406 sbc motor (bits and pieces of one of my 'comp' motors) with some big kinslers that i'd like to run a couple nostalga events if they'll let me. If anybody has a mild tune-up for some 'octane booster' give me a shout, like to play with some. Thanks, oj

Front Engine Dragster here - I'd post pic's but I'm afraid if I post anymore pics of my digger on the HAMB I'm gonna get expelled for wastin' too much bandwidth.

That's the car in my avatar from the last time out at Thompson Drag Raceway - this past fall.

Car was built at home in my garage - it's certified to 7.50 although I'm a long ways away from there. I've gone 9.66 on a basically stock 392. Have only made a handful of passes - so I am pretty early on in the learning curve - but wow - what a fun way to learn!!!

That's the third car me and my old man built, IIRC that picture was taken in or about March of 1999, just before the new season started (as evidenced by the straight side panels ;) ).

My 57 chevy. Ran Low 9's on a 522 with real small heads and parts nobody wanted . Ran 8.30s on 1 stage of Laughing Gas. To much money for the seconds you race per day . Got my licence at Lebanon Dragway . Went sideways at Epping NH. Put up on jack stand and sold it 4 years later . Big mistake of building something you can drive on the road . Building a 496 BBC for my 68 SS427 chevelle It should run 10's on 93 octane with no juice and still drive it on the street .

Well that sounds like my dad's 79 camaro it ran a 11.89 with a worn out block ( we knew it was wore but not that bad) we found another block,a better set of heads, forged rods, and a ford nine inch to put underneath it and a nos fogger system so it hopefully will run a lot faster the next time we take it to the track ( oh yeah my avatar is not my dad's car it's Jeff Byrd's Pro mod camaro that my dad helps out on)

  25. I've shown it before. It was built at Blair's in 69 and run by Jay Lindsley. Held the B Gas record at the Original Irwindale back in 1970. Last time we ran it at Carlsbad it went 9.20 at about 160. Hope to have it back in this configuration and racing again by the end of the year.

    Mine...

Cross-Ram AMC AHRA racer. Raced at Great Lakes in Union Grove by Tom Potchynok around '69. Raced for a couple years and then went into storage for 35 years.
Now it is only raced from my garage to my barn... sad sad life while undergoing some rejuvination. Currently running single holley until I get the dual quads rebuilt and back on. Hope to get everything back to 1969 condition for a couple runs at Pomona.
