  7. What it comes down to is that we all walk away with something, knowlege. The prizes are cool but not why I am here or even why I posted my piece

Now if all my "freinds" dont go vote for me I will axe them off my friends list;)

Actually, it's a shame no more voted than that did. 602 votes,my friends, is not a good representation of the 65,000 HAMB members, eh? But cudos to those that did take the time to check out the tech threads and to those that took the time and energy to post their tech ideas.

    COOL!

    I liked the voting layout,
leaving them all up like that.
Last time they were pared down to 5,
and this time lots of votes were spread out to the hambers interests,
kinda shows what we're all in to.

    Thanks for doing this!
It was also a great way to get me motivated to finish both "caveman" projects,
kinda gave me the kick I need sometimes!

I gotta get back to work before I get busted~

Yea, I walked away with the thoughts/feeling of "if they won't even take the time/effort to vote, why should I take the time to post one. It wasn't a "win or lose" thing. I just look at the voting as a "thank you" from the masses. 65,000 members,,,, 590 votes = LESS than 1%.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I'm walking away a little dissapointed.

That was one hell of a battle and truthfully it was a lot of fun.

Now I need to get away from this computer for a while and get back to work.

Thanks for throwing on this tech month I learned a lot.

I'll be back....next tech article how to chop a top on a 39 Pontiac 5 window coupe.

Killer job on the tech month, Congrats to all who participated. I learned a lot.

Pretty sad that only 1% voted. Guess it's more traditional to complain than it is to vote.

Hey guys... don't be too disappointed by the number that didn't vote.
Some may have had good reasons to not vote. Others? oh well.
Believe me that those of us who did vote REALLY appreciate the effort by all the folks who posted!
Please don't stop posting tech info just because of the ones who don't contribute.

590 voters out of 60,000 + is there some meaning to this ? Would people rather lay out a bunch of money to get it done then to learn some do it yourself stuff to cut costs ?

Great idea but disappointing response. There were some really cool ideas and i've picked up heaps for my project plus filed a few away for future reference. Thanks for organising the competition and hopefully next time more will get behind it and vote:)

You know, there might be something to that... The "HAMB's one percenters club".

What do you guys think? Form our own little group and discuss the finer points of the various tech challenges just between us "people who give a crap" about such things?????

    nice work zibo
i love tech weeks well months now!!
i was thinkin is there any way to see how many people logg in a day?
because i kno theres not 65k logging in a day . disappointing on the votes but hey it is what it was and i thought it was awsome!!! thanks to everyone who kicked in $$ and their time to set it up run it!!

  27. Congratulations
    "ZIBO"...!!!!!!!!!

Hey Travis... pm me your paypal acct info and or your shipping info asap!

Thanks again for all that contributed!!!

    Mark

Actually 590 of the really active 1,800 or so... is a Good percentage!

    My Questions are...
1). Who would like to see this as an annual event? (say the Month of January)
2). What changes would you make?
3). Would you like to see it stay the "Winner Takes All" or 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes?

Do you think I should have a poll on this idea?

Hey thanks flop, ernie, matt, gizmo...!

    Wingnutz, maybe every 6 months?
there was a tech competition on here only a couple months ago,
and still the amount of new techs reached 60.

    As to the prizes,
    since its all donated,
Maybe some contributors can choose to donate to the runner-up,
just make that option clear in your rules.

As to all the members that donated prizes/$,
you guys add the kick that alot of us need! THANKS!!
Money and shwag definitely make for a good competition!

    when that check comes in,
I'm gonna buy me some new gloves!!

    From me....

Ve haf vays ov vinding deesh tings out you know.

    :D

The HAMB is written on a bulletin board software called VBulletin. I'v used this software in the past to help a couple friends get their own web pages up and running.

A long time ago, VBulletin came with some really cool tools that would allow you to track the usage of anyones web site that was using the VB software. A few years back, they stoped distributing the tools, and instead integrated them [tools] into the bulletin board software itself. So now Ryan can track how many people are playing here on the HAMB, but he cant track other sites,,, but I can because I have the old tools applications that are "stand alone" tracking programs.

    If you look here:
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/online.php
you can see who is online right now and what they are doing... Reading a particular post, PM'ing, replying to a post, etc.

Everytime they do, it embeds "cookies". My old fashioned tracking software tracks the cookies and gives me the raw numbers... How many people visit, how many reply to threads, how many of them visit more than once a day, how many visit but dont post, etc, etc, etc.....

There are about 1800 people who visit more than 5 times a week.
There are about 2200 more people who visit 3 to 5 times a week.
There are about 7000 people who visit 1-2 times a week.
