snapped a few pics today,,,i may cant the fins a little and possibly have them fade into the door to facilitate the illusion of length,,,,,i was consdering doing fins similar to barris' modern grecian,,,but after some thought and some feedback from you guys, decided against it in the end,,the fins will be formed from sheetmetal...also trying to figure out the deck area,,will most likely do a pancaked trunk, and a rounded rear panel (see mock-up),,roof will be very similar to the golden sahara II,,(the bob metz version)...getting there,,,,,,(maybe,,hahah,,,,,)
NOW we're talking! Those fins are really helping to "bring up" the rear of the car visually. I like your style man. I never know what I'm going to see when I click your threads.
I don't know Jim I'm torn I like the sweetheart dip in the door and rear quarter and the extended fins would kind of eliminate that. That being said I like the look of the long fin. HAHAHA not much help hey. I'm sure you will figure it out.
its kind of hard to see because of the tape,,,,but the fin will be canted and wont interfere with the sweetheart dip of the door,,,,,,its only two dimensional in the mock up
I was just re-reading that Kustom's Illustrated where you were going to build a nice "mild" Kustom....yeah right! Thanks for the updates! We love this stuff!
Always love opening your threads and seeing the updates...like the fins...love the car...can't wait to see it finished
I must say I love the drive you have for doing all this to the car and creating an unreal custom. However, I personally liked it better back when it still resembled a shoebox Ford. I hope I don't get flamed too much for saying that? Just a preference.
it really did need the fins,,,now when i look at the car i can't imagine it without them,,,untapering the back wouldn't have had the same effect,,seems like i spend more time studying the lines of this car than anything,,,but im hoping it'll pay off it in the end,,
Love the fins. There sure isn't much 'Shoebox' left in that car, and I mean that in a good way. Keep on doin' your thing.
The fins will look amazing! I can actually visualize alot more with these new pics. They are alot more clear. New camera?
yeah...8.2 mega pixels (whatever the hell THAT means,,hahah),,,,one of my customers gave it to me for christmas, believe it or not,,,,,,seems to take nice pictures,,,
I'm really digging the fins. Are you planning on the tail light and back up light (future exhaust port) pods to stay aiming down, or will you tweak those to level them out?
they will be levelled for sure,,,,,whats a little more slicing and dicing at this point? theres a little future surprise coming for that area too (not TOO shocking,,but a little different than it is now)
Might just as well have done! Looking great Jim. I can never wait for updates on this beast. Are you going to start filling in some of the gaps soon? Is it really, really finalised? Never heard of a "sweetheart dip" before!
i think they called the door dip on a kaiser darrin a sweetheart dip if im not mistaken,, the main shapes are there,,there are a few small details to work out in the rear area,,taillight placement, rear pan curve, bumper bullets, etc...the trunk will be pancaked and rounded a bit
I think I've figured out why you keep changing stuff......it's so you don't have to get started welding it back together! I don't envy you, for sure Seriously, seems like every time you change something the car takes on a different personality. Real impressive what you've done, Jim
