Congratulations, man. Everyone gets what they deserve. You must have been a good dude for a long-ass time. Want to adopt a "new son" who's pushing 30?, Dad?

I LOVE those cars but recently have seen streetrod versions that sit low in front and THOSE will make you feel like puking

Okay guys, thanks for all the posts. I realize what a lucky rodent I am and had to seize the opportunity, because they do not show up like this very often. It will be heading shortly for TLC and a renaissance at the Weaselarium!:D

The '40 de Luxe has always been my favorite of the post Model 77 Willys. It needs quite a bit of work - rear floor, sills, door bottoms, lower door skins rocker covers, lower quarter patch panels, outer tailpan sections etc. But it is intact to the extent that the firewall is uncut, as are the rear wheels wells, and even the X brace between passenger compartment and trunk is still there.

One thing I have learned in life: "You can't please all of the people, all of the time" so I guess it's a case of doing your own thing. I had thought about fender skirts, big visor, taildragger, hydraulics, Appletons and 30 inch gold multi spoke donk wire wheels with goldline tires, and then realized it might have something to do with me sitting in traffic downtown Santa Ana - and, as they say, "It's the thought that counts."

Plans are to keep it simple with no body mods of any kind, stock front axle with disc brake conversion - mild but killer gasser stance like Kiwi Kev's Orange + 1980s coupe - just love that car. But I'll keep the factory grilles and 'cats whiskers' hood trim.

Eventually it'll get polished small beans and metallic red paint. 'Big' Daimler hemi for power with either TH200R4 or maybe lots of pedals - TKO 600. I am pretty sure I can get this in without cutting or modifying the firewall and foot wells. I like my hot rods to be 'organic' and subtle - outwardly bodily stock appearing - no holes in or scoops on the hood. But I plan on running it around pretty much in the primer, as it is for a while and taking the build slowly. It is about the fun factor and I am sure I can have plenty of fun with red oxide.
