I am expecting this to be a very short thread. I would love to have an FED upstairs and I have been leaning on the wife for one. No luck yet.

being a single guy and owning a ranch house with a finished basement and a garage door... I have at any one time one to two cars in the house depending on the time of year... Here's some pictures... what you can't see is that I can open the door from my gameroom/bar portion of the basement and gaze upon my bel air while drinking a beer.... guess it's they're not in the living room... but they are in part of my living space! haha

Ohh.. and this is just for storage... I have two garages out back for more storage and work... no welding in the house!

    Empty basement...

A guy here in Houston had a 55-57 Chevy convertible in his living room on a pad with a drive-in movie stanchion and speaker next to the driver's door. You drove it in through a garage door in the livingroom wall off the drive.

This guy moved his 1937 Delahaye into the family room for his father.

    Pretty cool story.

  8. My shop is actually my house. I can sit at my desk and look through the glass door at whatever I have in there. Right now it is a rusty Tudor and a new bathtub ready to install.

  9. I think I have enough parts in my house to build a car....does that count?? :)

  10. If the economy doesn't get better soon I may have my whole house inside a car

knew a guy that had 2 houses & he cut a wall out of one house & drove his corvette in. (he did put the wall back up)
i would go over there & sit in the vette & watch TV & bullshit around once in awhile.
there was always someone in the vette -- lack of chairs, the vette took up to much room.

This Bugatti, 1927 I think is in the living room of a friends house, it is a complete running car. He takes a lot of family pictures with everyone in the car.

Wow, not only envy those with drive out basements, but the ability to keep them clutter free. Mine would look like barn find heaven in about 3 weeks with cars buried in the crap

This is going on a lot longer then I thought. And the more people post the more my jaw drops. Moriarity is still the king though. His garage looks like my livingroom and his living room looks like my heaven.

I have a similar set-up. A raised ranch house, with a single-stall garage in the basement. My Galaxie resides in the garage most of the time and just gets backed out when I need to use the garage. The downside is having to keep projects mobile between the garage and basement, with just a 32" door between the two.

Another garage stall is very high on the list of things to do!!! (would actually be rather easy to add on to the house, the way it is situated)

So, right now, I have my '29 A Roadster dissasembled and in my basement :) (it just fit through the doorway, sideways):

There are plenty of car parts strewn around the house, too....

Damn North Carolina and their lack of Basements!!!!! Malcolm, you set up looks awesome. The trick I guess is to always build small cars and you'll alway have a place to put them together.

The guy that owns roadsters.com has a shit-ton of parts in his house. Complete motors, torque-thrusts, you name it he's probably got one in his living room or one of his spare rooms.

  25. Well, not in my house, but building a new office that will sooooorta have a whole car in it. Here's a bad rough photoshop of the new front desk I am building. Don't worry, I am not using an actual woodie.....started with this $100 '47 Merc shell.

Also building a desk from a 59 Caddy front clip and two couches from the back of a 59 Caddy and 56 Olds 98.

I could never fit a car in my house but when I got married my wife was not thrilled that I had a 350 short block in the living room and 39 ford sheetmetal in the dining room. She never went into the attic so the trans, and about a TON of small parts never bothered her. After 22 years she has gotten over it and things like the dashboard in the bedroom do not upset her.

  30. I'm currently removing a couple walls in the old garage apartment to use as car parking. I figure I can drive straight through the garage and into the old bedroom, still leaving room for a rec room like my girlfriend wants. got to keep them happy...lol
