51cliff, take a look here. www.slick60s.com 61-66 Ford truck group.
How far are you from Oxfordshire? My other half is from that area.
    Nice Slick!

  7. Greg, I will be spending a few hours on the Slick60s link tonight, thanks. Oxford is just over 100 miles from me but well over 2 hours drive because of all the new speed cameras they re putting in here now.

This old boy is in the woods up north covered in several feet of snow ... If I can figure out a way to get it out of there, I can have it.

Hey - I have one of those! :D

Get it - you won't be sorry! Two guys can totally carry a bare cab out of there EASY. Ditto for the front clip - it's bulky, but not heavy. Go ahead and cut the bolts... it's like $300 to replace EVERY bolt on that truck with new stainless ones in kit-form.

OK, now we've had some F250s, here's my '55. The wheels are hopefully temporary (not sure what they're off - '90s F150 maybe?), although I think look better than a lot of modern wheels. The motor is a '62-ish 292,and the axles are F100. Needs some TLC - I've started rewiring it, but as it's outside it's been too damn cold and wet to do anything on it for the last month. Hopefully be up and on the road by Easter....but I have failed miserably to meet all my previous deadlines!

Yep. set rear fenders, seat, rear axle, front body parts and such in the back of my truck. Came back with a small trailer, dragged the frame up by myself on the hottest day of the year, and came back with the trailer to get the bed and bare cab....this time with a friend and 2 8' 2x4's set between the side windows and lifted it up. no problems. Here's the frame. And another pic to stay on topic.

My old shop truck. Camaro clip, 327/4 spd, 9 inch rear. Shortened the chassis 5 inches just behind the cab and took 5 inches out of the bed.

Great thread. My grandpa bought mine new in '51, he and I worked on it together before he passed away, those were good times. It's finally going back together with a full-house flathead.

Well it is not much yet but will soon start it's transformation into a wicked ride. I already have a TCI front end with bags and a T-bird IRS rear with bags for it. I plan on stretching the cab about 4", then maybe a small chop once I see the stretched cab's proportions. Then the bed Will get shortened just a bit with 4 rear fenders to create 2 symmetrical one's. Then channeled to get it flat on the ground and to get the bottom of the doors right on the running boards. And to top it off a 2-4" section through the cab and then half that through the front fenders and hood. Motor and trans I have not decided on yet.

This truck sat in a barn from 1961 or so until 2006 when I bought it. It has 46K mile's on it.

No it is 2 builds away right now. I am currently building our shop truck that was a standard 72 Chevy Burb 3dr that I have built into a 4door and then shortened 19 3/4" to give it a Tahoe look. It is getting C5 front and C4 rear suspension and a 5.3L for getting us to the shows. My current 70 SWB is just to small for the my Wife, my 19month old son and my self. Then I have a 41 Chevy PU I am doing for a customer then our 51 F1 will find it's place on the chassis jig and get started.

The 56 is mine and the 60 4 door belongs to a guy near me. The 60 was converted to 4 doors for the US Air Force back in 1960.

Well Sunday I tore into it for the first time. I pulled the front sheet metal, motor and trans then started removing the front Suspension. After that I had a bit of frame trimming to do in order to get the cross member to fit after the boxing plates were added. It is a TCI front end with bags, tubular arms, power rack and disk. This is just for mock up and now it will come apart and I will trim the bag cups to get it about 2" lower. Then I will finish cleaning up the frame, epoxy coat every thing and reassemble. Then I will move onto the rear IRS and for that I will be using a T-bird unit with bags adapted to it for an on the ground running board stance.
