I snapped off a few pics today before my camera died. The battery was so low it wasn't picking up the flake on Suicide King. Most of the cool pics are from Hot Rod Ch***is' '62 Autorama section. My coomputer is running really slow, so I'll have to post comments after I lube it up.
I can't wait to head up there tomorrow morning with the wife and my son.Its gonna be awesome. From the looks of it way better than last year!
Yeah; went tonite as well. Saw a guy with a H.A.M.B. T shirt there walking around (That shirt looked like it had been thru the wash many many times); faded but intact and still very recognizeable.. I wanted to introduce myself as a menmber here but he seemed quite busy with his buddy talking about the features of the various cars so I didn't "****-in". I used to work for South Oak Dodge (***le sponsor) some 20 years ago. (damn where has the time gone)? What was with all the perfectly stock new cars that had nothing but a set of 22+" wheels (gag) and that 1st row with all the new Escalades, etc that were nothing special? I have not gone in a few years, but when I last did the show was both floors, about 1/2 of 1 floor was the hydraulic cars with all the murals that could NEVER be driven; so whats the sense? at least they were "contained" to about 1/2 of 1 row this time; can only look at so many of them! That 69 Chevy truck (gold) was nice looking, but definitely undriveable. '64 Chevy p/u that was nicely done. back to original. '30-something Dodge done rat rod style, with a more modern 318 or 360 and a 727 (yes it had the bulge in the RF corner of the pan; no 904) done as a funeral car. Also liked the bronze AMX and SCrambler. If you go; DO NOT buy food there; 12% tax (they said 7% for the City and 5% to go back to McCormick Place). Eat before going. The show isnt that big that you can't "live" w/o eating midstream. Maybe they'll get the picture and not try to "****" attendants next time.
That's a clone of the Ford Futura concept car. The original was commandeered by Barris and turned into the Batmobile. It's a driveable car! I have a few pics that I didn't post. I try to get them up
This Druid Princess clone was called "Evil Twin". I took a pic for my twin girls. BTW, my display sign was made by OldSign Bob. Elizabeth made the hand holding the sign. We were going for a Roth-style monster hand, and ended up with a skinned monster hand. I like it! The Blue G***er was made by CycleBilly at his shop, King Kustoms
Something that really stood out to me was the use of the "angel hair" around the cars, its almost like I am back in the late fifties and early sixties again!! Also did anyone notice Plowboys method to recoup some of the cost for the build?!? I wonder how many gumballs it will take to make his money back He is a damn marketing genius I'm tell ya!!!
The '59 is looking good, I don't recall seeing it without Pileup dust. Thanks for posting the pictures Joe.
Damn, who built that? Has it been around a while? I haven't seen it before, looks fairly accurate, aside from the gauges.
Young Chris & I had a magical time at your indoor event. It was nice to see you fellows & your machines, equally enjoyable were the beats you & the hucksters created. You are some talented young men, also joe, you have nice hair. Thank you again for a nice show. CheaterCarl
Those Cheetah's are some bad mo fo's.I had some slot cars like them.Dan Blocker(Hoss Cartwright)owned some Cheetah racers back in the day also.Great pics!
Thanks for the pix.........too bad the A-punk is not going to be in KC, otherwise I would tell more people to go to the "indoor car show". Chris
Hey, look! A customized Batmobile! Maybe someone will find Marratta's Mystery and turn it back into a 39 Ford convertable sedan.
The Brushmasters auction was fantastic. All the proceeds go to Ronald McDonald House. My son and I stayed at the one in Detroit once. What a great experience. Charity and service are some of the things I like best about being in a car club. Shows the public that we aren't completly without social redeeming values.
