Well she don't look like much but shes mine! Been in a field for 4-5 years. Pulled it out last weekend and got her running! Soon to be daily driver! The guy i got it from his nephew hit a ford ranger. just needs some sheet metal and tires. Had a new 350 th400 put in it when it was parked.

My girlfriend has taken a liking to this one, I'm trying to convince her to let me put it together for her to drive the way it is, and she eventually would like to paint it orange with heavy flake.:)

She wants a 2nd-Gen T/A before they get even harder to find though. Everyone in the surronding 100 miles has either owned it since new, collects them and owns atleast 5, or is going to "restore it".

I would LOVE an original '60-'66 4x4... I'd prefer the '60-'61s, for the wrap-around windshield and the big hoods. Very nice truck.

Too many decimal points for me. Not saying it isn't worth it though--can't judge by a single photo. I do know that original NAPCO and 4x4 trucks are pretty spendy, and if completely restored (down to all the little tags and hose clamps), it's probably not out of line.

$18,500 for a restored-to-new 4x4, versus how much for a new 4x4 off the lot these days?
I'd take the vintage truck every time.

  19. My wife calls it the Rolling Refrigerator! I built this truck 13 years ago, and it was my daily driver for a long time until recently the sky high gas prices. It is a 66 c-10 that was a factory 283 three speed. It has a little over 76,000 original miles. I swapped the motor and trans for a 375hp 67LT1 with a 4 speed. Lowered it 11"s c-notched frame added drop spindles with Belltech nitro drops, and 18" wheels. Replaced the step bumper with a 72 Blazer rear bumper, filled the stake pockets, and shaved the tailgate chains. Wood floor was replaced with steel because the exhaust is so close to the floor that it caught on fire one day. Exhaust is run through the cross members, and under the rearend to avoid scraping. I have had a lot of fun with this truck cruising, and love the body style.

My grandpa says the same thing, that if he had $15,000 to buy a "new" truck, he'd just buy a restored AD Chevy or something of that nature. Self serviceable and holds value much better than say...a 2008 Colorado which will be worth about $2000 and have numerous problems by the time its 10 years old.

  22. Here is my '62 GMC. I haven't been able to touch it for about 3 years. I hope to get started on a full rebuild soon. I've got alot of subtle changes I'd like to do.

My 64 has a Porterbuilt Dropmember up front with tubular control arms, drop spindles and a mustang II rack.. The rear is notched but still running the stock trailing arms.. it will lay the frame n the front with a 30" tire if needed.

  30. My truck has 1974 chevy truck front suspension with bags and drop spindles. The frame is a 1963 although the truck is a 1962. It has parallel 4-link in the rear with a notch and raised bed floor. Right now the rockers are 3" off the ground with the front crossmember on the ground. Plans are to make a square tube chassis for it asap, so it will lay rockers.
