Shorter, than it was, but not short......like what you are looking for I don't think.

It was a loooong sucker to start with, around 115-118 wheelbase, I forgot, measured it but didn't write it down..........................

Shortened wheelbase, now it's about 107, body cut just behind the pillar. The rear window was originally the same length as the door window. Channelled body 5". Moved the rear axle forward on the springs then clamped on homemade traction masters, cut off the rear part of the leafs and slaved in coil-overs.

I agree with MERC,, I didn't like em then and I don't like em now. NITRID, if you even think hard about doing that ,the CADILLAC GODS will appear and cut out your Big hubcap nuts. Those things look like a Mack truck hit them and knocked their ass up on their shoulders. What a waste of a tri-5 Chevy. or even a Bug.

Is this thing real? It'd be totally unusable on the road, but it is a damn cool looking go kart.

  15. I know where the blue Delivery came from 'cause I posted it after I drew it.

I prefer it long and low, personally.

Here are a couple I'd build...( these are really old drawings)

from 1981 ( why'd I put the rear up on springs? I guess I thought the Lakewoods looked cool.)

There is a shorty 57 chevy in the hartford ct area that i see at car shows every so often, only ever asked the guy one question. Why?
have to say that the workmanship on the car is top notch though.

I wish I had your talent and creativity. I can see the pictures in my head but they don't come out my fingers very well!

The van looks like it could have been used in Tatoo's funeral procession ('da plaaane! 'da plaaaane!). :)

  20. Back in the 80's... we used to hate them.

    I kinda like them now!

The Setliff Bros. did a '57 Chevy in the 70's... outta Riverbank, CA.

I got to see it in the 90's... hidden in a hangar... Polyglass Goodyears, 427, 4spd... best looking one I've seen.

Now you got me thinking about a '55 150... gasser!

    Wuhahahahaha!!!

29Nash, you're car was done with a goal and a finished product in mind. (You have taste & restraint!) With a few exceptions, everything else on this thread is "Shriner" approved!!

cartoon-y cars. they always seem to inspire the same thoughts among us....that is to see how fast we can get the front wheels up. it was my first thought when i saw the first car in this thread.

cant call it traditional hot rodding though as it seems to really hit in the 70's....along with the van craze (which is ok in its own right but not traditional hot rod).

    i like 'em.

  27. Love this rig, it's very cool.

I can appreciate the work that went into them i guess.I know a guy here local that has built a 56 and two 57's that way .Used to be a 49 Merc that ran around here that way too. They look like clown cars to me .I wouldnt be caught driving one with out a red nose and a Bozo wig.Just look silly and out of proportion on full size fendered cars.Open wheel 20's and 30's stuff ,can be made to look proportionate when shortened correctly ...
