Thanks MK still not to sure what to go with.I basically just want something to bolt up and don't want to spend too much time on the fit for now.Just want her on the road for now.Still searching for a donor car though for now have to stay on the transmission.:)

  2. Here's mine. Well it used to be. It was my first car. I've been looking for it so I can try to buy it back. Anyways, it was a '62 with a '63 grille. I shaved the emblems, but left the windsplits on the fenders. I ran only 3 leaves and 3"blocks with air shocks in the rear, and 2 coils cut with spacers on my shock towers, to get it as low as possible. (Before bags came out)

I put in Honda Accord bucket seats with the headrests removed and a stock Futura console. I also converted it from a Ford-o-matic to a 4 speed out of a 64 Futura because I kept smashing or scraping tranny pans......The price we pay to be in the weeds i guess....LOL

This car isn't my style, but I must admit to being intrigued by the concept of a small-block Chevrolet in a Falcon. I have the 1960 issue of Hot Rod where they shoehorned a Y-block into a Falcon (and if I ever find my scanner, I'll post that article here). I have to think some hot rodder saw that and thought how much easier it would be to slip in a 283.

To that end, if I had two Falcons to do (keeping the six being my first choice), I would build a '60-'61 style hot rod coupe with a '60 Corvette drivetrain.

I got my car 3 years ago, bone stock. Somebody's grandpa's car that had been put in storage when the old man got too old to use it. I stuck a 289 and a T5 in it and drove it a couple years, then I went to the HRR the one year they had it here and decided the car was too boring and that it needed a straight axle and more speed. Now it's got alum. heads, cam, 4.11's, trak-loc, lexan windows, heater/radio/rear seat/window crank/front bumper delete.

Got a tunnel ram all set up waiting for the snow to melt, along with harley turn signals for the front and a big ugly scoop to cover the carbs in the rain, and maybe getting a better T5 to replace the busted one that's in there now.

If the freezing rain lets up I'll go out and take a picture of it without the bumper, and post a pic I took when I got it for a comparo of what I've done so far.

Here we go... This might also be the first instance of someone putting a Ford 9-inch under a Falcon. Something I'd venture to say has been done considerably more often since than putting in Y-blocks.

  12. I've got an old HOT ROD mag with an article titled "Hot Rodding the Ford Falcon". It showed the installation of the Offenhauser 3 carb manifold on a 6 cylinder. It was an early 60's issue as well. I'll post it if I can find it.

The March 1960 Hot Rod Article, "Making the Falcon Fly" detailed installing an Edelbrock Tripower adapter and three single barrel Holleys into a 1960 Falcon.

This is a picture of the Edelbrock Tripowered 200 with three glass bowled Holleys I had in a '63 Ranchero back in 1999. The Ranchero had an early air bag system fairly crude by today's standards as bagged cars were not as common 10 years ago as they are today.

Man...those old mag articles are great!:D
I like how they cut and rebuilt the shock towers in the Y-block car article...that's a cool idea!:)

...except if you need room for bags in there...
my intake is 1/4" away from the tower...
I do love the old mag posts!:D

  16. Yeah RetroSpeed, that's the one. I couldn't remember if it was an Offy or Edelbrock setup. Nice Ranchero. I had my wagon about 12 years ago. I wanted to bag it then, but that stuff was way too expensive back then. I was planning on putting hydraulics on the car before I sold it. Just to be able to drop it to the rockers. How did that tri-power setup run. I almost bought one from Clifford before. I had 3 NOS Holley carbs and air cleaners all ready to go. Damn, I wish I could find my wagon. You guys got me motivated to get another Falcon. Especially with the high prices we pay for gas.

    55 1st Series,

The Ranchero was literally a blast to drive as the tripower worked with a progressive linkage and the minute you floored the "go-fast" pedal that little truck roared like it had a V8. When I sold the truck in 2003, the new owner appeared more fascinated with the air bag system and was actually disinterested in the vintage Edelbrock speed parts. As he intended to replace the tripowered six with a 5.0/T-5 combo, I retained the engine and still have the parts in storage.

Like you, this thread has me itching to build another Falcon although I'm leaning towards a V8 with vintage speed parts as tripowered inline sixes have become fairly common due to the Offenhauser parts that are now readily available.

Just had a visit from Falconeer, he was down looking at a local car . hope the deal works out OK, Butch. It was good to meet you ,Sam and Don. Here is some pictures of my other Falcon.
It`s a 1 owner `63 2 door sedan . It`s got a 170 with 3-1 `s headers and a 3/4 Clifford race cam. The car is a Futura with buckets and console with a factory 4 speed. I bought it from the owner son ,who was building a show car out of it in the 80`s. Then he got married and just quit on it. It has some neat stuff done to it ,I`m going to do a repaint and clean up . The drive the wheels off it. Gasserman

Here are pictures of a recent purchase. My 63 2dr sedan with 95 Cobra roller motor, with all the goodies. 5spd transmission, 8.8 Mustang rearend, Moser 31 spline axles, 410 gear. The shadow you see on the rear quarter is from trees--it's not discolored. Tell me what you think.

    Thanks,

Painting the engine blue didn't fool me I see an Edelbrock Victor Jr intake and aftermarket heads along with the obvious headers.

  25. Yeah, those tricky guys from down under are allways tryin to fool us. They even want us to think they still have Falcons there.

  26. yeah it has got the wrong manifold and acouple of other little deviations from stock, but its how my buddies customer wanted it. it puts out 380 HP at the treads, so who cares?

It looks like a mini Thunderbolt. Kinda cool and I'll bet it goes like stink. It needs some different wheels, though.

    Bob,
go my albums and you can see my wagons and sedan delivery.
    Dave,
your right, a different set of wheels would make a big difference, Iam limited becouse the guy that built the car kept everything 4bolt becouse of the 95 mustang8.8 rear end. But in time that will change.I have other things planed to do to it for now. So i guess i will live with it for now
