Sorry to cause any trouble on my behalf...

  4. Mines not done yet but I would have the common sense to realize that people are going to make comparisons if I painted my car in a VERY similar paint scheme as a well know car that was built less than a year before mine. And if I did decide to paint it that color anyways I would not whine about it when people did make comparisons and comments.

By the way I like your car.

Alright time friggin out. Way too many of those panel paint jobs look so similar that they are almost like belly buttons. Personally the Collins family car knocks my socks off every time I see a photo of it even a year later but that other one doesn't do much for me. Maybe because it has the old show car thing of "if we hang something here and make a scoop there we can pick up ten more show points", look going for it.

I would imagine that the owner of the L car spent the weekend listening to one person after another mention that the paint job looked almost exactly like Dan's paint job from last year and that was probably as bad as being wooped like a step child. Show up with something you think is original and have 500 people tell you the paint looks exactly like one from the year before.
Good thing the guys with black highboy roadsters with red wheels don't get pissed when another one shows up just like it or there would be a war on.

  6. The Liberace If it's any consolation, the interior on your car is kick ass.
It compliments your engineering and fine craftsmanship well.

not that this was your intent but...

Dan, your first post on this thread comes across as less a comparison and more sugar coated shit talking. That's what got folks riled.

Liberace, I really like your car alot! You built what YOU wanted to build. KUDOS for that! Listen, enjoy that beautiful car and ride around with your head up. There are some people that will talk shit because of jealousy (no finger pointing at all). You had your car there, thats a big deal. I am sure in the 60's there probably was a 57 Cheverolet or something with a purple panel job on it too...still doesnt mean you copied it. Hold your head up...great looking car! You should be very proud of it!

Hey guys, I need to throw my two cents in on this. I have been involved with "The liberace" since the early on. (I'm one of the friends) The original insperation for the color scheme as far as I know is on the cover of I believe Oct 1962 car craft or rod & custom. (Im 3000 miles from my collection so I cant verify that date.) Its on a T bucket at a Winternationals show I believe. That isssue has been sitting on the coffee table at Craigs for about 3 years that I am aware of. wouldn t be suprised if it was the insperation for Dans car as well. Always remember there is nothing new under the sun! Bitchen car Dan, bitchen car Craig both well done!

tera & even are good people and friends of mine , were doin a car for even

man i couldnt find this car , i wanted to see it

i think the colors are differant , the car styles are diferant
dans is lighter esp toward the senter of the panels
the other is darker even a diferant shade and tone
even if the 2 cars were diferant collars folks would be comparing
who cares the 60's are bitchin and so are bolth cars

dans car has inspired me to want to do a purple paneled car
insperation thats what its all about
with out larry watson and gene windfield were would we be

Who cares what color someone elses car is...sounds like two old broads at a dinner party in the same dress...but the posts do have entertainment value.

  16. Denise's photo "says" it all. Completely different cars, both very well done and both are truly exceptional. If you're only focusing on the paint color and layout, you're missing the boat altogether. I've seen both cars in person and am amazed by the quality, craftmanship and artisitic detail in both. Great job to each of you and thanks for building them for us to enjoy and be inspired by. As Alex stated, it's all about inspiration in the first place.

Just read the whole thread. You CAN'T buy this kind of entertainment. Thanks to everyone involved, just what I needed as I've been watching the temperature trying to climb above 10 degrees all day and while I've concentrated on this it's now almost 11 degrees. Only on the HAMB.:cool::D BTW, both cars are cool but I prefer Dan's truck over both of them.

Actually - those cars would look awesome in a mag feature together...

Twin sons of different mothers...or something like that.

(It should be shot at Paradise Road too!)

I've kissed and made up with Dan { although it left a weird taste in my mouth } Hopfully he feels the same. Well not the same, as that would be copying. Any way, for all of you haiters just know Jesus still loves you!

I know I'll take it, I think it's quite purdy! Not trying to sound like a beeotch but the purple is not even the same color! This is why women think men are weird, does everything have to boil down to a weenie waving/pissing contest?!? I also know why newbies tend to shy away from places like this, there is always going to be someone with a bloated sense of self importance trying to knock you down just so they can feel better about themselves. I think for a first time car Craig did a damn fine job and if you haters send him away to play in another sandbox then all I can say is shame on you!!!
