Lately I've seen used, but claimed as good running, complete 8BA engines go for around $1,250 to $1,500.. much less then it costs to build one.

I sent you a PM about this flat head. ID say you could get anywhere from 800-1000 bucks even without those carbs and intake.

About $600-700 without the carbs and intake, and not counting the tranny. That is if you take off the heads and verify no cracks around the valve seat area.

At least here on the West Coast the motor (if it is a Merc with 4" crank) would be $1000/1500.
The Offy tripower and 94's aren't worth much, certainly not as much as that 4" Merc crank (if it has one) and I can't ID the trans, but could it be a Zypher?
As for taking the head off and checking for cracks.............you may be able to see them and..........................you may not. The only real way to verify there aren't any is to clean and mag the entire block.............
If I could look at it and really hear it run it would be worth the $1500 with trans.
I picked up a very nice 8BA block that has it's pedigree papers for $550..........no cracks and std bore with .004 taper....................I would have paid more just to get this block.

So................it is probably worth the $1000/1500.................................................

    IMHO

Well, if it is a merc engine with the 4" crank that makes it worth the $1500 assuming a bunch of stuff. The tranny looks like a 3 sp overdrive which is worth $300+ depending on a couple things, the offy intake is worth around $250 and the 3 holleys are worth about $250 assuming a bunch of stuff. It has probably been converted to a 1 wire set up for 12V which is good too. Can't see the heads good enough to tell what they are but if merc should be 1CM or 8CM or EAC or something like that. It looks like a pretty cool old street motor and I would go $1500 in a minute assuming it really runs as good as they said.

Just list it if you are attempting to sell it. Stop fishing on the main board.

You have to post a price if you list it. The guy don't know what it's worth. He asked a simple question and got some good advice. Nothing wrong with that.

thanks for the advice guys. that definitly puts things into perspective. ill let the owner know and list it. the motor does say mercury on the heads. and the guy drove it around town alot. it was in his 49 ford truck. i replaced it with a ford motorsports 475 HP fuel injected 392 (351W) and a T 56 six speed. should have it running in a week or so. thanks again
