  1. heres a " work in progress" shot. 272 and top loader in wife's car. Rocker covers and batwing air cleaner yet to be painted, will do them in metal flake to match
the roof and dash in the car.

Whats the story on this one? I have never seen heads like that on a Y-Block. Are they Gurney Weslake?

  10. Weslake, yes, Gurney, no. At least so far as I've been able to ascertain.

Hey Y-Blockhead, Always liked your setup, would love to have a wagon like that.

How do you like you rockers setup. I am considering same for mine as is that is it's weakest link at this time/they are new though. Worth the money?

y'sguy, I really like the roller tipped rockers and at the time I bought them I didn't feel the price was to bad. They came complete with the spacers that replace the original springs. I got them from Mummert but I don't see him listing them on his site. Maybe he can still get them. They are made by Dove. Mummert also supplied the shafts and washers.

    Here's a little closer shot.

I'm getting ready to swap out the cam for a Isky RPM 300 and the carb's for an Edelbrock 600 Performer.

Ok this is driving me crazy!!! haha. I have a 1959 292 y block in my 56 fairlane now, It came out of an f100. I am getting a pair of ecz-g heads from my buddy and already have a complete tri power and reds tube headers. Im looking for a chrome or aluminum timming chain cover and a 6 carb manifold. No luck haha.

  17. Frank Rice of Rebop Castings makes an aluminum timing cover..you can get it from John Mummert, a**** other places. http://www.ford-y-block.com/blowerpts.htm

Offy, Weiand, & Edelbrock all made 6 carb intakes back in the day; they turn up on eBay from time to time.

Will try to get pictures on of some of my Y-Blocks. Don't know if I can find the Hilborn Fuel Injection one I'm building now or not. They made 141 of them. WHOOPS! Last picture NOT a Y-Block, but thought you might enjoy seeing a BLOWN-CAMMER in a '66 Mustang Shelby Clone!!!!!!! Tom

Hi tom, I'd like to meet you some time, heard your name before. You bought the HILBORN setup from buddy Ralph Alix. I know you'll do something cool with it. Wish I could of afforded to use it on my 55 bird but it was outa my league. I saw it in his stash for years and years. enjoy! and I'll probably meet you some time down the road. Maybe Columbus 09

  21. Those are some cool valve covers. What did you do with 'em?

Yes they still make the rollers !
They can be bought through John Mummert or Dove !
Are you going to dig a little deeper for the Alum Heads from John !

Did you put one of John's stroker kits in it ? I am trying to find someones feedback on his kits .
BTW very nice Y Block !

    Retro Jim,

No Mummert kit, just a .040 over 312 (making it a 318"??), Clay Smith cam, etc. backed by a C-4 trans.

I'm not sure Mummert had stroker "kits" when this engine was ***embled.

Rocker Arm Spe******t make roller rockers for Y-Blocks also.

As for aluminum heads are concerned, that's something on the want list but probably isn't going to happen due to the crooks in charge and what they have done to our economy. (Sorry, hit a sore spot).
