Finally was able to copy and resize some really neat pictures from my Dad's scrapbook. Dad was a founding member of the Delaware County (IN) Timing Association and the Rod Benders Car Club in Muncie, Indiana before founding and building Muncie Dragway.

Thanks for sharing your Dad's old pic's. It's always cool to see more original pic's from back then that haven't been published in a dozen books already.

    Do you have any more?

Posted this one on the vintage drag cars in motion, but could not resist showing Dad as he announces a race in the tower at Muncie Dragway....he was the best and while he was doing this, I was all over the grounds picking up more trash than any kid in America...obviously would not trade my time in what I consider the glory years...1959 through 1972....met some really cool icons....

Thanks for letting me show the old man!!!!

Thanks, Drugasm! I think that the Red Widow was from around 1954-1957...was his daily driver for awhile. It has stacks on it for a time as well. I remember my Mom's story about freezing her butt off as he drove her and my older brother home from the hospital after my brother was born!

Coupster, pretty sure that it was around 1955 or so. This car came before the Red Widow pickup....one of my favorites, too. I believe it was copper and ran a Merc flathead....notice the cool, subtle accenting/striping near the window and exhaust....yowza!

Love the car, the frame and front end are cool. Is that the same car with the overhead valve engine?

To bring it full circle, this is the car that Dad "never got to build" -- he was going to build it in 1958 when I was born....I was the third child and told me that he wanted a 40 Tudor so he could get Mom and us three kids in one car! Never was able to afford it as he started building the strip in late 1958/early 1959. Before he passed away, he detailed what he would build...from the motor to the interior, stance, wheel/tire combo...to the colors. He wanted to do it with SIMPLE and SUBTLE in mind. Hopefully, he would approve. This is a shot from a shoot ACTUALLY at Muncie Dragway a couple of years ago right after they repaved it....full circle for me!!!!!

I don't think it was....I think the other fenderless car was a Rod Benders club project.

Unbelievable! Think you got it in your blood?
You are very proud of your dad!
My eyes bugged out when I saw that one....with his buddies standing around the channeled, uncut 5 window. Looks like it was just dragged home, no pipes off the headers. That pic ROCKS!!
Thanks for posting those pictures...brings back memories.
