My NOS 35 grille doen't have that tab either.
Also, I was always under the impression that only the very early 35's have the removable window trim and no indented door "pull"? Maybe someone can elaborate on that?
Nice to see all this info in one place!

I am not sure at what point in the year they went to molded door pulls but it was roughly mid-way through 1935. They were removable before that. Maybe Bruce Lancaster could add something here.

As far as the tab for the V8 emblem, I am beginning to wonder if that was a "Deluxe" option.

Are the 36 pickup and car frames and running gear the same?

  9. The Frame is the same. There are just different mounting holes for the car then for the pick up!

Here's something that maybe useful, it was in a old BOB DRAKE catolog, I feel these need to be in place because it will force more air thru the radiator and though we don't drive thru weat fields anymore it keeps the fenders grille and inner fenders stiffened so they won't flex. and yes they are a pain to install. :(

Nice to know there is yet more fiddly sheetmetal in the front ends of these trucks!

Hey, could you post a larger pic so I can see some more detail? I clicked it, but it didn't enlarge much.

Thanks for showing this to us 35-6-7ers.

I have a 36 passenger car frame to go under my 37. Anyone got dimensions for placement of the pickup mounting holes? That would be a lot easier than figuring it out the hard way. Also, are the car and truck front axle centerlines in the same place?

The car and pickup frames are the same, remove the 4 outrigger mounts that are used on the cars, you will NEED the wood body mounts for the pickup which are spacers between the body and cab they are about 175.00, but the holes are all the same on 35-40s, the radiator mounts are different on the later frames. The center lines are the same.

EDIT: I'd suggest saving this to your computer then using the zoom function of your graphic view to view the detail.

    Thanks for posting this,
I have a 37,gas (prob get flack for this but its on s-10 chassis)filler neck was on right side of cab but I filled it in.
My bud has a 35 with no filler in cab, is their a difference between commercial and pickup?
My 37 has V windshield, crank to open it is bad,$75.00 for new one. I;d like to make electric opener for it.
Got a crank from my bud's 35, found out the arms are shorter that crank out. Was going to change the arms, the gears are worn out on his too.
And these trucks are hard to find steel rear fenders for.

The commercial cab had the gas tank under the seat while the pickup had it in the rear of the frame.

Yesterday I received a phone call from a nice fella, Lawson Cox, that is writing a book on the 35-36 Ford pickups. He says it may take 2-3 years but it will be available through the Early Ford V8 club. He has signed up for the hamb but mainly lurks.

He also said that the Deluxe model was not available until 1936. He is a good source of info and I look forward to him posting on this thread.

Thats cool, because the early ford v8 club is pretty much the gospil on early Fords, I looked for my old copys of the v8 Times for pickup info, but could not find them. Time for the ballgame.

  24. Thanks! Just what I needed

    Roothawg:

I enjoyed talking with you a couple of days ago about 35-36 Ford pickups.

I am undertaking the task of writing the 35-36 Ford Pickup book for the Early Ford V8 Club of America and quite a task it is turning out to be. It is, however, progressing nicely but it will be quite some time before it is ready to be published.

If I can help anyone with their truck, I'll give it my best shot. Just email me at lacoxii@bellsouth.net.
