I heard it was less, but that still doesn't make it right in my book. Legal, maybe, but to have the audacity to claim it as his own "art" is ****ing rediculous. What an ***hole.

"the idea of the website was to hack up existing logos."-

I see how you did such a good job of hacking up those Sailor Jerry logos. Could hardly recognize them. Those college kids should all get an F. So should you.

"over 19.2 billion websites and 6.8 billion people in this world, think i am the only one who has done this? "

Oh so you know what you did was wrong, but youre gonna come on here and defend it, kinda, instead of just apologizing???? And defend it poorly with the "Well lotsa other people do it" Defense????

    What a jack***.

Sorry Ryan, This type of thing really gets me going. Im with you on the whole "Steal our stuff, we'll kick your teeth in." Oops. Did I just steal that from you?

It may actually be less... you may be right!

These days, advertising legal-ese states that "Better than" and "as good as" are interchangeable, too! WTF is up with people?

"But putting up my personal information is a little immature an stupid and if you are going to, well then, i welcome you my friend"

Right, but stealing original art and selling it as your own is SO mature and smart.
As to messing with fast food logos, those guys will sick their legal department on him so fast it will make him dizzy. Several years ago there was a little hometown cafe in Colby, Kansas that called itself "The Deep Rock Cafe". The folks at Hard Rock went after them like a chicken on a june bug, and forced a name change.

You know, if you have a problem with me blatantly ripping you off, just send me an e-mail and I'll stop. Sheesh, no need to be immature and say mean things just because I'm a ****ing low-life thief that was caught red-handed and exposed. I thought that you artists were a little more generous, but apparently you think that you should actually be PAID for all of your hard work! Pure, unbridled selfishness, you should all be ashamed of yourselves. Anyway, thanks a lot. It looks like I might actually have to get a real job now.

I don't know if that ***hole is still lurking this thread but if he is, I have this to say...

    Dear **** Plug,
If you steal any of my art, I will sue your face off. Then, after the settlement, I'll find you and force you to pick up your own teeth with 10 broken fingers. I'm pretty resourceful when pushed. I used to do skip tracing and bail enforcement years ago. I WILL be able to find you if you piss me off. If you're a real artist, you can draw your own ****. If not, then don't pretend to be and ride on the backs of those with talent.

    Sincerely
    Dart Graphics.

I know that we all are influenced by others. I've even done a few Rat Fink tattoos in my life, but I NEVER claimed it was my own design. Everyone knew the real illustrator and that I was paying homage to them. Claiming it's your own work and making a buck off of it is the lowest form of **** splatter in the art community. A real artist would never do that to another real artist. Please feel free to die with festering boils in your ***.

I not a lawyer, but I am a commercial artist. The test is whether one's art is "inspired" by anothers art or idea, or plagiarized (defined as the theft of an idea, thought or original creation, or representing the idea as one's own creation). It's not about a percentage of changes, it's about profiting from or "taking" value from the originator. Inspiration is a grey area for sure - so in court it usually boils down to dollars - in other words, was the originator expecting either income or fame from the creation? Did the plagiarizor deprive them of either? Also first use is BIG in these cases.

I encounter working professionals in web and graphics that still think they can steal images and art off the web just because it is posted somewhere. This guy may be just uninformed, but I think he just hits fast and moves on.

Ford forced several companies to drop the use of the V8 logo (8 over the V) because they wanted to relaunch the logo on cars and because of the up coming '32 anniversary. They didn't even own the rights to it, but they have a **** load of lawyers and they can prove "First Use".

I'm proud of all you HAMBers too.

    Wow,
    you guy's ****ing rule!!!

I hope that when I get ripped off (which is almost inevitable), you guy's can be called upon again. It's a huge risk for us as artists to show our stuff online. I really appreciate all the responses. Before I even had a chance to read the thread you guy's took care of it.

    ROUND OF APPLAUSE!!!!

I guess I answered my own question about the bonneville decal. The artist of that one is John Bell. If anyone knows him, might want to let him know that this guy was selling his work as his own.

    STOLEN!

Thanks for posting that... I totally stole it for my virtual collection. :D

I have almost 1 GB of old travel stickers, each one is like 300 - 700k. ALL (except this one) are pretty much in the public domain!

I emailed Cam and Debbie to see if they were interested...

The guy thinks he is invincible because he is at home with a Computer and knowone will find him . What he fails to remember is that recording companies have had several big wins in recent times bringing suit against music piracy. The precedents are in place for any lawyer,on behalf of an injured party, to sue him for theft of intellectual property, Whether or not he has taken down the content of his site .He still made money from it and he now has to share it out a****st those from whom he plagiarised.
Besides which,he says he is a student in his site,Then, in his own defence he claims to be a teacher of students. I'd say none of those. He is a thief who has probably been doing this for quite sometime.
