Event Coverage Lake Havasu-Rockabilly show?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Groucho, Feb 5, 2009.

  1. Is this the first one?
How long, and where has it been advertised?
What do you know about it, and who's going?

You thinking about leaving California for a car show??:p

  4. Barely, but it's not sounding like it's gonna be worth it so far.
Shouldn't you be compiling a story about your trip from TWO FRIGGIN WEEKS AGO???????????:p;):r

It should be huge. Cars are already starting to come out of the closet. The guy is all about "free". Free entrance, free pin up contest (with large cash prizes), free drive in playing American Grafitti. Even vendor spaces are only $300 including a tent, the space, power and a temp business liscence that is required. He has a page on myspace, and is a great guy and VERY approachable with questions.

Is this show worth making the drive from Phoenix ?

  11. Well, that was my concern when I started this thread. So far there's NOT a lot of response.

I just spoke to "Kenny", the guy who is promoting this show, and he said it was going to happen. In fact there was an article in our local paper this morning about the show and all the events that are starting on Friday night and ending on Sunday.

I'm looking forward to seeing some other HAMBers there. Look for my Dry Heat Geezers plaque.

    What a liar!

I don't think it was over 78 degrees last week.

The sign on Acoma/Mchulloch read 83 twice last week that I saw.

However according to weather.com it only got up to 77. I've notived though that there are different readings all over town, depending on which sign you read.

The show is calling for 65/66 degress. Clear on Fri and Sunday, but a 40% chance of rain on Sat.

Now I hope Kenny keeps out all of the store bought, goldchainer, easter egg color painted, billit, old fart snob cars out. There are a FEW cool old guys in this town, but MOST of the rodders in Havasu are the snob Boyd type guys. The only clubs I know of here are mostly retired goldchainers. Although they do provide entertainment watching them pat themselves on their backs for BUYING thier cars.

I think I would p*** as well...not to cast judgement, but the majority of cars that I have seen in LHC are of the variety described here. I've seen very few "traditonal" rides in the last few years. There's a local guy that owns a beautiful, traditional, red RPU and another cat that has a satin black 40 Ford. Don't know thier names, have just seen them cruising around in the summer and once or twice at the local breakfast joint.

I was told ORIGINALLY they were going to keep the chainers out, but I guess they want another "Run to the Sun". That blows. A buddy of mine has an old RR (yea, yea) that he drives around and the Easter Egg Pastels snub their noses at him at the weekley show, was kind of hoping this event wasn't going to be over run by them, ****. Well, at least it is only a short trip for me.

Maybe I should cruise up to Groucho's and get some work done too.

    Uh huh. :D

  29. So what with the chain gang?

    Just part of hot rodding.

We all have our likes and dislikes, just look at the ones you like and p*** on by the ones you don't.

Groucho, what car will you be driving?

A lot of local cars hit the Laughlin car shows.
Good variety of stuff, something for everyone.
I don't think Havasu would be any different....
