Low and behold we ran into Dave Bell! I was shocked. I had no clue he was going to be a guest artist there. Some might remember a few years ago be drew Big Olds in one of his cartoons and was kind enough to sell me the original which is framed and hanging in my kitchen. Anyway, we’ve spoken on the phone but have never met in person. Saturday was the day and I was thrilled!

Right across from Dave’s space was the original Al Kart looking as fine as ever since it’s redo and debut last year.

We stopped by Keith Weezner's booth and picked up some treasures. I got a print of two girls in a roadster with a BBQ restaurant in the background. Certainly fitting. It's at teh framers right now. Can't wait to hang it.
GREAT seeing you keith and having the chance to say hi even though you were busy. Looking forward to seeing you again at the RoundUp
    [IMG]

While Megan was smoozing with Keith I got the opportunity to meet OddRodGarage. What a PLEASUE to finally meet him. Thanks for stopping and saying hi bud. Hopefully next time it will be longer.

We then stopped and watched the guys putting together a roadster right then and there
    [IMG]

We then decided to head over to the Suade Palace area
    [IMG]

Inside was an AWESOME band! Way to go Axle, they were GREAT!

We wanted to finish checking out the cars that we didn't get a chance to see on Thursday night

So it's now just about 1pm so we head outside in front of the Suade Palace for the HAMB Meet & Greet. WOW, tons of folks already milling around and chatting. Megan and I both started passing out namestags and it was soon evident that we were not going to have enough. YIKES! Sorry about that. I brought all that I had and only about half the folks got one. I'm going to have to buy some generic ones from now on unless I can get some more "HAMB" ones from OldBobSign (hint, hint)

So, here's another example of what a small world it is. As were all standing around my old friend harry walks up to me. Harry lives in Orlando. We met in the mid-90's at the NSRA York, PA event, actually in the motel parking lot. We kept in touch and I drove my '47 Chevy convertible down to Florida to visit in the past. Kinda lost touch till just this moment, or I should say I lost touch but come to find out Harry lurks on teh HAMB and was keeping his eye on me. It was wonderful seeing you again sweetie. We'll do some more catching up in Nov when I'm down there for the Turkey Rod Run in Nov.

Harry actually knew a few of the HAMB guys
    [IMG]

Axle stopped by the M&G to say hi. GREAT seeing you again bud!

ScooterMcrad and Derrick Mitchell, you two are a blast to hang out with. We really need to spend more time together next year.....like maybe a party or bar or something
    [IMG]

Mel and Abe, wonderfull seeing you two again. Looking forward to perhaps hanging out during Speed Week.

KIRK! Made an appearance. May Cause Danergous looked FANTASIC bud! You should be very proud. I'll see ya around the mid-west this summer I'm sure.

Ran into my good buddy TimB and caught up on what each other has been doing. I sure hope he gets the assignment to shoot teh Detroit Autorama this year.

We then ran into Emily and spent quite a bit of time filling each other in on the dirt and gossip and made plans to meet at Bobby's Shop party later that night. AWESOME seeing you again sweetie. I sure hope you and the girls can make it to Austin for the RoundUp this year
    [IMG]

Stepped outside and almost immediantly ran into Paul AKA: Kiwi Tinbender. I was bummed he didn't have a chocolate martini in his hand but he made it up to me by escorting us around.
GREAT hanging out with you bud!

Ran into Kiwi Kev so we stopped to chat. Glad we saw ya gain Kevin cuz it was so busy at teh Meet & Greet I barely got a chance to say hi
    [IMG]

We then stopped, for about the half a dozenth time, at the Limeworks booth to say hi to CraigR. Next time hopefully we can have that drink together in the bar.

We stopped by the pinstripers area to watch them lay some lines
    [IMG]

and watched the auction for a bit
    [IMG]

Running in 5windowJohnnie who had just won a piece. AWESOME seeing you again sweetie. See ya at teh Road Rocket Rumble in Indy right??

We then headed back to the hotel to shower and get ready for a nice dinner out. Without going into the drama of LOCAL folks getting lost and not being able to find their way from the Fairplex parking lot to the front of the Sheraton hotel:rolleyes:....I'd just like to thank Dale AKA: thewildturkey46 and his pals for the ride to the restaurant. I really appreciate you guys going out of your way to drop me off. Much apprecaited xoxxo

We had a really nice dinner with even nicer company and conversation. Thanks so much to everyone that made the night so special. It's really a treat to be able to sit down with friends and share a meal and really get to know each other.

After a nice relaxing dinner we all headed over to Bobby Waldrens shop for a party. By the time we arrived the party was in full swing including a GREAT band!

Ran into alot of old pals and made some new ones as well
LowandSlow came up and introduced him. Nice meeting you sweetie, I enjoyed our chat and laughs
    [IMG]

Got a HUGE hug from my good pal Alan Johnson and proceeded to tell him about him making it from the living room to my bedroom.......get your minds outta the gutter fellows, I'm talking about a piece of him artwork I have. Anyway, I got him blushing which is easy to do to Alan, he's so humble.

So we're just hanging out chatting away with folks when I notice this guy I didn't recognize with a blue HAMB t-shirt on so shy me walks over and I introduce myself. Low and behold he's HAMB member Toybox. He then introduces me to his buddy Steve who low and behold him and I had met the last few times at B'ville. Steve owns the Thacker and Shine roadster. We had a wonderful time chatting but it was way too short. His buddies were ready to roll. So after a few hugs and an exchange of business cards they left the party. Nice hanging out with both of you.

Shortly thereafter our posse decides it time to head back to the hotel and perhaps get last call in the bar.....so we did.

This is about the only photo that suitable for internet viewing that I have. Let's just say we once again had a WONDERFUL time with our friends and we didn't have to worry about driving home.

Needless to say we slept in the next morning. Once up and showered we thru our bags in the cars and headed back into the venue. HUGE difference in the crowds between saturday and Sunday. You could really walk around and take photos without tons of people around. It was rather pleasent. Sunday morning was beautiful weather wise as well.

Since we had all day here at the show once again, our plan was to check out each building making sure we saw every car and to bid farewell to pals along the way. Our first stop was the main building and low and behold instead of saying goodbye I said hello to a local Detroit area pal Paul.

Stopped and said goodbye to Troy
    [IMG]

We once again stopped at the Hop Up booth to see if Jay AKA JiveBomber was there. He wasn't but Megan picked up some swag for this summer
    [IMG]

Stopped by Steve Tracy's booth for a goodbye hug.

and since it was brought up on the HAMB not too long ago, I asked him to explain about "black Chrome" which he did and showed me this piece. Stunning, absolutely stunning.

Stopped by to see Dave Bell again
    [IMG]

and asked him to autograph an event posted
    [IMG]

He drew alittle cartoon of Big Olds on mine
    [IMG]

and Megan's Black Beauty on her's
    [IMG]

Scott was in the HubGarage.com booth so we bid him a fond farewell with promises of catching up later this summer at an event in the mid-west

and headed back into the Suade Palace. I wanted to see if Cruzr and 32Gal were around. They weren't so we didn't get a chance to say so-long but I did get a chance to take a couple of shots of her car without the crowds around. Your roadster looks AWESOME sweetie, you should be very proud. It was wonderful seeing you two again.

By now it's time for Nick, TJ and Lisa to head to the airport so we walk them too their car. Ran into Terry and BJ on the way.

We then ran into Jeem and BostonMike who were hooking up with Terry and BJ for the ride home. Nice meeting you two and having the opportunity to chat even thought it was short

We made it to the airport on time only to find our flight was delayed. It was only an hour but instead of getting back to Detroit at 1am it was 2am when we landed and 3am by the time we made it back to my place. We fell into bed BUT I had to get up at 7am for work. Needless to say it was a rough Monday. All in all though it was well worth it for the wonderful time I had with my good pals. Looking forward to repeating the GREAT time in Austin with this same group of friends.

    Thanks.

Thanks for taking all those great pictures and sharing them with all the Hamb members. Looks like you had a great time! One of my favorites was Thee Ice Cream Truck, looks like something Cheech and Chong would cruise in with smoke coming out the windows.
