Event Coverage "Adventures of Bad Bob #6!,Autorama Roadtrip"

Loaded up the Merc and headed over to Orange,to meet up with my buddy. It was about 3:30am! Stopped at the AM/PM and gassed up and topped off the oil. We got on the road about 3:45.
It was a nice drive,NO traffic,NO rain,NO worries...The first stop was Gorman,at the top of the Grapevine. Gas and 2 qts of oil,and we were off again. The next stop was Fresno. More gas and 2 more qts of oil. I figured it was just burning a little more than usual. Cintinued to Modesto so my buddy could stop and see his mom. She took us to breakfast...LOVE BREAKFAST! We get back on the road,without gassing up,cause my buddy said we were only about 80 miles away. All of a sudden this truck pulls up next to me and I hear "FUCK YOU! FUCK Bad Bob,Hey asshole!" I look over and it's Fernando(low49) and two more HAMBers! Scared the shit out of me,LOL!!! I look at my watch and I had driving for over two hours. I need to stop and get gas every two hours,so I call my buddy and say "we need to stop and get gas!" He says "no,we're good,I still have 1/8 tank,i'll let you know when we need to stop". Right when I hang up...BLUP-BLUP-BLUP! OUT OF GAS!!! So I coast down the offramp and there was a COSTCO with gas pumps right there. GREAT! I wal;k across the street and ask this guy if I need a COSTCO card to get gas. He says yes! FUCK! So I ask him if he will put $20 for me cause I just ran out across the street. He looks at me and says "no...I can't help you". WTF! I said "COME ON! I just ran out,can't you help me out?" He looks at me again and says "Sorry,I can't help you". I got pissed and said "FUCK YOU ASSHOLE! Thanks for nothing! I hope you break down some where and nobody helps you fucker!!!" Couldn't believe that! So I call my buddy and tell him,get your ass back over here and bring me some gas! He shows up and I get over to the station RIGHT on the other side of the offramp! I couldn't see it cause there was a bunch of cars on the offramp. I start putting gass in and guess who comes walking up? Srgntlthrgic! He was on his way to Grass Valley to but a car for,I think,$75! He saw my car and stopped. It was funny!
So we get back on the road. He gets off the frwy and doesn't know where he's going! now,i'm not stupid! But if you make 3 left turns,you've just went in a big circle,LOL!!! He finally stops at a flower shop and askes for directions,HA HA! We were really close to the EXPO.
We pull in to the grounds and I go park next to the Merc Building. (pic borrowed from TommyV)


This lady who was parked in front of me tries to back out and breaks off the spicket and water goes everywhere,LOL!!! So I pull my Merc around to the front and wait for all the "trailers" to move so I can park in my spot next to the door. Then these two guys come walking up and ask me if I could put something under my car cause it's leaking oil! I thought,well it leaks a little. So I go and get a cardboard box and when I look under the car,it's dripping!!! HOLY SHIT!! I guess I bottomed out when I got gas WHEN I LEFT!!! That means I drove the whole way there not knowing I fucked up the pan. That explains the 2 qts of oil,eveytime I got gas!
Now I can't drive around while i'm there! That sucked...I was invited to a few things that I really wanted to go to but know I have to leave the Merc at the show. You guys who invited me to your event...i'm sorry I didn't make it. So my car sat outside the Merc building in the rain all weekend!


So I go inside to check out the move-in. I about pissed myself!!! All those famous Mercurys in the same place. I grabbed my camera and took as many pic's as I could.
I look over and see Jim McNeil wiping down the Hirohata,so I go and ask Jeff Nepl to introduce me to him. Thanks Jeff! What a nice guy.

I ask him to tell me the whole story,which he's probably told a thousand times,and he told me everything! I thought I knew all there was about the car,but didn't know Dirty Doug was the guy who traded the hirohata for a Cadillac,to the car lot! NO SHIT! He showed me everything, explained all the details,it was definately a highlight of my life! He asked me if I owned a Merc and I told him the one outside in the rain was mine and that I drove it from Orage County,430 miles. His eyes opened up and said "REALLY? No kidding". All those guys treated me like one of the guys,not like an outsider. It was a Merc lovers dream come true!!!

He looked at me and scoweled,as if he likes it better with the other stupid wheels,HA HA HA! I like it much better with this look! After that I thought I would keep the "Sportscar" mirrors opinion to myself,LOL!!!!

Why, what makes that car so special? I like your car and Jeff's car alot more than that Testa cal car. But what do I know, I'm in the deuce club.

 

Do a little research and you'll find out it's a pretty famous Mercury! Mine is just a popular car,NOT any ICON like these cars! Jeff's car will be talked about for a long time also! Dick Dean chopped cars are very valuable!!!

51 Mercules barn find Mercury!!! If you look at some of the other guys pic's you'll notice my Little League baseball bat holding open the hood so you could see the Hemi,LOL! I've had that bat for 33years...I use it to hold open my trunk when I get gas...
