17/17 - not bad for an electrician!

There were plenty of clues besides the engines themselves: Mopar alternators are distinctive, Ford air cleaner decals, hints that make you realize what it ISN"T, stuff like that.

    Pretty neat, but fairly easy.

    Try this one:

  3. 14 out of 17...

But there was not a single inline just those V-things,so I'm happy with the result anyways...

Missed on those GM ( Gambian Motors????) things, but WTF they are just "296 on a dozzen-stuff",compared to Sweden they are just like Volvo-engines:Everyone has one but don't know why...

But OK I'll plunge in to this head-first and then You all know how dumb I really am.

First my brain said something from my side of the sea, like a Jaguar,Daimler or such but that ain't right, neither will my next guess be but here goes: Duesenberg or some other "small" American make such as Cord maybe???

Man, you are oh so close with the American makers.

A lot closer than my SOHC Harry Miller Flathead guess. ;)

    Nope.

But again you are right there.

Big money American car, this manufaturer built what is in my opinion the first muscle car.

    WAY back when.

    No, Lars, think American.

I do believe this company was the first high end manufacturer in the states.

Very fast cars for the time.

They built the original Cannonball Run car, but not with this motor, back when BIG fours were the way to go.

    This motor I posted is a 1931.

    Tom

Disregard the body, this car is not original.

That's no Duesy. It's not a Lycoming (later Duesy and Auburn). That would have to be a Stutz DV32.

Now, back to mine.....................here's another shot. might be too easy now :D

That didn't make it any easier for me Tim.

Is that an automobile engine? I've never seen anything like it.:)

Adjustable, I believe that is an old Mickey Thompson Pontiac.

I saw that pic when that SD Tempest went for big dough on Ebay.

the small block in question 17 looks EXACTLY like the 283 in my 32. all the same speed equipment, accessories and dress up. only difference is I've got three 97's on it instead of 3 rochesters!

    early mallory...................................... check!
    generator...........................................check!
    stamped cal custom Valve covers...........check!
    hurst front mount................................check!
    ram's horn manifolds.............................check!

kinda cool to see what my motor will look like when it's all bolted on!

Tim, that is the original SBC.

Man, I learned a lot about the history of v8 motors looking for this.

    Thanks, man.

Yeah, the old 288 throws some people off! I've won a few bets with that one. The first Chevy production V-8 was a 288, not a 265.

  28. The poly-engine. Ive never seen one of those before. They must be rare, with all the money ive spend on mags, and never seen one before. But its a cool engine.
