Event Coverage Lake Havasu-Rockabilly show?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Groucho, Feb 5, 2009.

  1. Depending on the weather - temp wise anyway, rains ok - and how Sweeties back is doing I'll be in the black roadster in my avatar.

Sometimes she can't handle the long rides.

  2. I'll be waiting for a report from you fellas that make the trip. If the feedback is good, will make an attempt to get down of this mountain next time around. Keep us posted.

    Johnnie.

My feelings exactly and I'm hoping to see a bunch of rat rods that will be making the trip. I'm way too old to be in the rockabilly scene. I guess that's because I lived it in the 50's.

I'm looking forward to finally meeting you Jay. Hope you can make it down.

I'll be driving my vert Caddy down there to piss people off with. Airhorns and an ***hole behind the wheel equals fun.

SO-AZ, the "Winter Blast" (the pyro show) can't be beat. Brings in a lot of people. Just follow the parking rules if you go. In past years they "let" people part on the highway. A couple days ago in the local paper they were saying "no more" and will be handing out "no no tickets". They said use the entrance on South Mchulloch.

I guess the difference is what the show is billed as. I like/build both "chainer type" cars and traditional jalopies. I have been coming up to the Run to the Sun show for about 20 years, long before I lived here.

Viva bills its self as a "traditional" show. Guys go there just for that. Rockabilly was ORIGINALLY going for that, hell read/look at the flyer/website, how many HIGH END cars do you see ANYWHERE on the advertising?

A blown Honda with a big fin and neon is a car too. You think they should be there? That's my point. Shows are designed for general styles and what he is NOW allowing, is not what he has been advertising. Look at the sponsors, they are pretty much all the rockabilly/traditional/ratrod type sponsers. I would venture to "guess" the sponser sales pitch was made to them citing a certain venue.

    NO.. Absolutely no relation.

  10. Don't want to throw a dampener out, but, y'all better keep an eye on the weather.

Snow predicted for the Kingman area Friday night and into Saturday.

    Here's a good place to start: http://www.accuweather.com/us/az/ki...recast.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0&u=1

Punch up their 'Enhanced Radar' and see what's cooking.

According to "Weather Bug" it looks to be a heavier snow than we had a couple days back.
3"-4" and it was a mess with Hwys 40 and 68 shut down for wrecks and Hwy 93 running one lane at a time due to wrecks.

Keep icing in mind as well - a little shade on the road (underp***es on a curve) will get you sideways in no time.
    As will longer bridges.

Havasu more than likely will not have snow, but it should have rain.

It could though, I've seen snow right down to waters edge along the Pacific Ocean and seen the offshore islands covered by the stuff.

  11. Lookin' forward to trying out the highway gears recently installed (3.00's).

If not Saturday, sometime in the Spring.

  13. RainX is good stuff.

Don't need wipers with it and in fact visibility is clearer at night when the windshield has a good coat of RainX and the wipers are off.

Works best over 35 mph on most cars and in fact will get you through big-*** cloudbursts when the wipers can't keep the windshield clear.

Works on the flat windshield wonders most of us drive at most any speed....

    Hi Josh,

It was nice talking to you this morning. Too bad more HAMBers were not here. A perfect day with lots of cool looking cars and trucks. Hope it's this nice tomorrow.
