Lauren, I like your style, GREAT work as ever! Keep at it, at the rate you work at it won't be long till your feelin' the wind in your hair! Its great makin' stuff rather than just buying it from a cataloque, shows that you've put your heart into the job at hand.

I think those lights look good, but you're right, lower is better. Truck looks good. I had to do the exact same thing to a door hinge to save having to buy a set to get 1 part.

    UPDATE

we used sheet metal butt clamps to clamp down back cab panel to tack into place -
note: that while i was doing this, i had to be aware of the metal buckling in the corners. had to grind down areas that were getting too close with not enough welding room. 2.26.09

tacking...moving clamps as i went along making sure both surfaces were flat 2.26.09

    tacking into place
note: the sheet metal clamps were moved accordingly into place and before and after the welding area to make sure the metal didn't move and to keep flat. 2.26.09

partial mock-up of back cab panel on frame. not fully tacked together. 2.26.09

carefully grinding down high weld areas 3.1.09

closer shot of grinding down welds 3.1.09

    TODAY....

i attempted to hammer out the high spots of the back cab panel to make it flat. there was a bulge in the panel so we proceeded to heat-shrinking the metal....

we moved onto heat-shrinking the back cab panel cos there was a bulge.

he heated a small area very quickly (around 7 quick seconds), with the tip about a 1/4" away from the metal and then with a very wet towel, quickly cooled the area down.
we continued doing this in a pattern to shrink consistently.

    cooling down hot spot... 3.1.09

we finished heat-shrinking two panels of the back cab panel - as well as hammering some of the larger bumps out.
i used the rubber end of the hammer and hammered onto the sheet metal, holding a dolly underneath, so it shrunk the metal (or really just kept it the same width).

mind you....this really won't be seen by anyone and is going to be hidden, so it doesn't need to be perfect, but still...

got one of the doors / hinges on today too.
Thank you to: Trevor, Johnny A, & Marcel for figuring this all out / bringing the new doors over

Well look at you go! I'm stoked to see the finished product when we come down for Billetproof this summer. I had to work on my daily this weekend, so needless to say I'm behind on my coupe!

Keep up the good work, Lauren
