It was Big Al's poker run here last weekend , probably the biggest gathering of pre - 78 cars we get in our little city of Perth . My friends and I got there early as there is a lot of new cars here now and I wanted to see as much as I could . I saw some cool stuff , quite a lot I haven't seen . This gem is one of them , a hydrogen injected flathead in an XP 65 Falcon and the owner enjoyed confirming my su****ions about the pvc canister ..... And some shots of my friends cars . I was driving the HQ Monaro that Todd lent me for the day ( Thanks Bud ! ) Patrick's bagged Impala . Ronnies cars and the Monaro . Pat's Dads Thunderbird . Had an awesome day ....
Interesting! Strange combination of things going on there...A four door falcon with a hot flathead (odd choice), a hydrogen bubbler (to improve milage I guess?), lots of clean craftsmanship. I like the soldered up copper fuel lines. What's the story with to twin heater cores up front?
Hydrogen creates a cleaner more complete burn of the fuel , increasing performance and mileage . He had run it on a dyno .....
Cool Post there LAbRat! Looks as if there is a "Fender" law That ****s!.............. Good gathering of odds and ends we dont see here in the states. Thanks for the pics!
Flathead v8s respond to lots of advance, because of the convoluted flame travel and relativly low compressions . Trouble is ,this destroys motors that detonate under load . ANSWER ..... use electrolysis to split water into HHO gas. This is plumbed into a va***e source .This will provide a much quicker and complete burn ,which equals more Torque power with a closer to TDC spark .WIN WIN situation .As an aside ,If several hundred feet of lacquered armature wire is carefully wound around the tube that connects the hydrolyser to the carb base,in a three layer close wound setup and fed 12volt dc ,the gas will reject the two surplus protons and a huge improvement will be noticed in the cycle.there is a radical new site on the HHO wedsite that espouses this forbiden knowledge.get it before its shut down!
SERIOUSLY???? okay hydro injected flattie, pretty damn cool indeed, bbbuuuutttt, am I the only one that is ****ting myself because they just saw a flattie in a falcon??????????????
I chatted to him for a while , an about half was to do something different and the other half was a case of what you know and love . He has owned plenty of bone shakers and liked the ride of these early falcons.
The flat motored Falcon is a blast! Thanks for posting the pics of the other cars too. Good to see what is happening down under!
do you have any info on the intake used on the flathead and any more pics of the silver 27 roadster thank you
I think it was a modified weiand manifold , can't remember for sure ... and more pic's here ...http://www.highoctanephotos.com/index.php?name=Shows_n_cruises&file=displayimage&album=16&pos=90
I have tried that hydrogen system on an Olds Cutl*** with a chevy 305,and on a Jeep Cherokee. It works very well. The engines runs much 'softer' and stronger. I will mount it on my 31 coupe with chevy 350 when ready. Check out : www.water4gas.com
cool post. A flathead in a Falcon will certainly get some looks. I've seen some pretty odd engine choices in Falcons. I guy around here had a '63 Falcon with a 426 Max Wedge. The mopar boys really hated him for wasting the engine and the SBC and SBF guys avoided his car.......
