I did these today in my drive way. The pictures really make my exhaust look like **** but it functions and thats all that matters. Doing this was harder than expected glad my old man came home from work and helped me out or it wouldve took 3 hours and looked even more jacked up. They make the old Poncho loud as hell the cops came minutes after I started her up. I love it.

It did get it to stop leaking. That whole exhaust setup is from 3 different race cars except the home made cutouts it. All that matters is that it works.

As for the rusty ****, I try to keep on top of everything but it seems the minute I have time to work on appearence issues something mechanical and more vital goes awry. I will get to it though.

  16. If you try I bet you can fit another tube of RTV in there somewhere?

Guess I don't understand a couple of things.

Cut-outs usually mean you have a way to control open/close from the ****pit. What you have is what we used to call " dumps/lake plugs ". When ya go racin', ya 'get out and get under' to pull two of the bolts, swing the cap up/over and tighten that bolt down.

If you're just going to install turn-downs, why is there still a stock exhaust system? what you have with the turn-downs is a necessity of unbolting and removing the turn-downs, then bolting on the caps, then driving past the cops (or whatever). In 'the day' - we ran them out to the rocker panels or fender edge or running board lip so that they would be easy to access and would (per several regulations) route the exhaust AWAY FROM THE CAR. At least you're using 3-bolt flanges - those weenie 2bolts only belong on lowriders or customs - 3bolt says POWER

Nice try. A little more planning would have helped. Welding is something that takes practice, so keep at it. At least these welds will only be seen by you and any road kill. Please unbolt system and scrpae after the RTV gasket material at header/exhaust pipes and put in proper gaskets. If not even surfaces at flange then try some copper gaskets, or others. Nice trans pan. What kind of car? After reading other current post on leaking headers, that you commented on, at least replace the red with Permatex Ultra Copper.
    Pontiac?-Kool! Post some pics.

They all got different exhaust setups and I was lucky enough to inherit the old pipes and the leftovers of the new. I love free tubing.

Im not sure if this is correct but should there be a V in the pipe to the cut out so the flow is better? With having a cut out thats 90 degrees wont that cause back up problems or issues?
