Thanks for the coverage, just read everything through, 2 hours well spent. That's one amazing collection of cars there! Enjoyed the rest as well. Thanks!

    This is one COOL post!
Thanks Denise for taking the time to share all your outstanding pictures and time line stories with all of us.
We are the unfortunate ones who could not attend, but are the fortunate ones to have great people like you two for sharing the experience!
I feel as if I made the trip personally.
Thanks for all your hard work!

It was pretty funny, when we met up with Megan and Denise, both groups of us had tried the GPS on our flights to see if it would measure the speed.
I think mine showed a max. speed of 460 or 475 (don't remember for sure) on the way to California, but on the way back to Omaha we hit 648 mph!! Talk about movin'!
Isn't that somewhat close to Mach I?

Glad to see this thread back up again - what a fun (and busy ) trip!

Dean Jeffries painted the "little *******" on James Dean's Porsche when he worked for George Barris. The red stripes on the rear fenders came that way from Porsche; you could get them in red, green, or blue. George Barris claims to still own the lost remains of James Dean's wrecked Porsche as he bought the rights to the car after the accident and took it on tour. I have heard a lot of opposition and different stories as to whether or not he is en***led to the car if it is ever found.

That's what a nice tail wind (like, say, the jetstream) can do! It's indicating ground speed, so your airspeed is probably still in the 450-500 mph range...

Oh yeah... and thanks to Denise for the pics! It was good seeing all you guys again!

Megan and I will be around Friday night but if you want to party with us on Saturday night, and alot of other HAMB friends, please feel free to stop by my place. I'm having a Hot Rod Mingle. See the Autorama Meet & Greet thread for more details. See ya in a couple of weeks bud!

Yeah, I know, sometimes I'm just too shy for my own good.:D

and we're gonna have some fun in Austin, right??:D

Thats what he must have been referring to then. Thanks for straightening that out.

I finally managed to get all the way through...although I have to say it scared me to see so many horrific photos of my bad self......Just found out our Motel 6 rooms for Speed Week are nonexistent....but I`ll be there anyway...now I think my tab is up to two foot rubs, a Chocolate Martini and who knows what else....What a great thread...and great people to go with it...

Thanks for adding the details. I appreciate your insight. I'd need to write everything down while there to remember and then I'd feel like a reporter instead of invited guest.:D

Since it seems like you might be "into" Porsches, you might be interested in this thread I did a couple of years ago.;)
