Not, sure but it loo'ks like Pete Preston's car from Reading,Pa. Would be about 1967?

There were a few strong running 273/180 HP Mopar Wagons too. They performed very well, especially considering they had to compete with (among other equally potent combos) 283 Chevrolet 2-b engines rated @ 170 and 185 HP. The Mopars did have the real edge in the (automatic) transmission department!

By the way, isn't it amazing how simple and 'mechanic friendly' American V8 engines were back then!​

 

I have that same blue and white delivery sitting on my mantle right now! mine says wix filters on the doors and panels also.

 

I think Bruce put me out for class at Dallas in 1971 also. Which car did you have? I had an orange 57 "Carrot Cart". I also remember Bruce and Dickie coming down to Birmingham back in 1968 with the wagon and a Z-28 Camaro.

 

I had the "Mackey & Mayersohn 65 Chevelle wagon.

 

John, I 'think' that's your '65 Chevelle wagon (w/hood up) in this picture I took @ E-Town ... 'sometime' in the early 70s. Do you recall WHEN it might have been? (from my post #224 )

That is the 1st points meet 1971 at E-town. Look at the back window of my wagon(yes with the hood up) and it saids "car in tow" we were still flat towing, right after that event my dad got a new pick up truck and we got a trailer.

 

Thanks John! I had an idea that the "car in tow" signage would help you date it. Now I know just when it was I took that image and the others that day. I thought it was '71 because the Ray Allen-Truppi/Kling Chevelle was in the group, George Cureton's ride was the (former Bobby Warren) Nova and Supinski's Wagon was "for sale." I rarely took pictures at the races, but I got a few decent ones on that roll of film ... you remember 'film' ?

 

In the shot from E-Town in 71 -- anyone know who's Oldsmobile that is with the hoodup? Upper left hand corner...

i was real young and went to the valley with uncles and meet and saw bob run this car. he and my uncle was freinds. great car remenber it for sale.

I think someone was looking for pictures of this car a while back. I didn't realize that this car was raced as long as it was. This picture was taken at the Sportsnationals.

 

Here's a couple of model car bodies that I mastered that were resin cast by Perry's Resin in Canada.

 

Ah yes there were plenty of feuds back in the "day". Anybody remember the feud between Jimmy Weibel and Racing Head Service and the poem that RHS put in National Dragster. I guess racing in the southeast, I really remember that one well. I saw in another message board that Jimmy's son is looking for his 57 to restore. From the description sounded like the hardtop.

 

I almost forgot, Great resin bodies. I too am building models of junior stockers. Always looking for new sources of parts.

What is the "IHRA Bracket Style" format?? Reg. bracket racing??
I was on the 75-80 site, quick look tho, and thought it was all Heads-Up/Index classes. How does Index Racing work??

When it comes to IHRA, I'm "Outta Touch" too, but 'methinks' any form of "Index Racing" is quite like *bracket racing, *which I always thought of as an oxymoron, kinda like 'military intelligence,' 'Rap music,' 'Genuine imitation,' or my (current) personal fave ... 'Government organization.'
