Projects 50 Chev chop/section

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by hoitink, Dec 1, 2008.

  1. Sectioned decklid is great. Looks like a fat lady sat on it. Realy draws your eye to it. Love it. Dare to be different!
    Keep those pictures coming!

Very Nice Work! Here is another tail light idea. Late '50s - early '60s 'Vette taillights.

The sectioned trunk lid seems to draw a lot of attention to the car and also different opinions. You can put me firmly in the I like it column. There is no right or wrong here as this is art. I think the proportions are perfect.

    Thanks for the comments everyone.

Well got my junk yesterday for the grille.

To start 2 baseball bats stripped

Cut em up (didn't know they filled em with what looks like expanding foam)

Add some mesh and lights tada! Now I have to get the bat's welded up and paint the mesh black make some brackets bla bla bla and she's all good to go. :D

Very cool and original...where did you come up with that idea? Keep on choppin!

  8. That's the craziest thing I've seen for a grill in a long time. It's a home run in my books. (pun intended) Looks better that a cummins diesel camshaft (sorry Johnny)

That is TOO COOL!! Don't wanna sound like an idiot, but, what did you use for the mesh, where do you get it, and how much did it set you back? Keep up the outstanding work!

    WOW.

This is my first time reading this thread... and I'm floored. The progress you've made in such a short time is amazing. Great lines. Great work.

I like the trunk lid... seems to be a major styling point with people. I really like your second pass at the rear window, it got rid of the bump in the roofline. Not that you care what I think, just sharing my thoughts.

Only problem is, at the rate you are going you are going to be ready to cruise before the snow melts.

Thats a really interesting idea for the grill treatment. I dig it. It's really got me thinking. Inspiration is everywhere.

Not sure actually. It just came to me once I seen the opening of the grille.

Please don't use that material....I beg you.

No offense to you or your girl but that will not do that car justice.

I'm very jealous of the speed which this is coming along, I'm thrilled if I get a couple hours a week with my truck. Love everything I've seen so far, except the seat fabric...sorry. Keep up the great work and the posts.

Agree on the fabric--it would look way better with green or black n gray mex blankets.

I agree about the fabric, DON"T DO IT! you've put way too much time into that car to throw some bunk fabric in it.

i thought the fabric was a joke at first and i was waiting to see what was under neath....

please try the interior again, dont ruin all the great work you did before.

It probably seems like all I do is criticize since I made a comment about the deck lid, but really, as I stated, "I'm just not sure about it". But when it comes to that fabric, I gotta join the rest and say PLEASE DON"T DO IT! The car is just too nice to have some funky homemade lookin' slip cover interior.
But, it's your car, maybe I should just shut up and watch.

I say try the fabric. Everything else that you have tried has worked out.

It reminds me of this truck that was at Goodguys Bowling Green. I thought thought the interior was cool.
