I found a 32 gl*** banatam roadster body looking for ideas or pics of what it may look like in different styles. I was thinking drag car I just want to see what a 60s era one really looks like. Also do you think i could make a street car out of it cause those ugly rear fenders really mess things up. And sorry its not steel but it is what i can afford.
There is no need, contrary to what some purists may say on here, to apologize for useing a gl*** body. Use what you have/ can afford/ what you want , and screw the purists. Purist, hot rodder, kind of an oxy*****, isn't it ?
Nearly everyone of them is in here. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=306543&highlight=compe***ion+coupes
Better look here too http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=284917&highlight=bantam+rods
The one piece gl*** bodies are so far from what you need for the street... and the dragsters with the gl*** style bodies are so neat...
Yea your right, I missed the "roadster" part in the post I Could have sworn it said coupe, I'll fix it.
Mac... here are some shots of a very high end car... out of my price range for sure... but a different take on the roadster version. Gary
I always loved the style and someday wanted to make a street roadster from an Austin Bantam using a older (60s) Jag six cylinder for power. Don
I think this would be the best way to go looks simple and scary fun same with pure hell but that looks **** your pants fun.
It's a shallow car so semi reclined seat with a cutout behind the ****pit and a short roadster windshield. Would require a funny car cage loop to complete the look. Better than sitting half out of the body. If you measure between the wheel wells you see it would be a single seater so center the wheel and add cowl steering.
a friend is building one for the street kind of like the purple one w/ an injested nailhead. sorry no pics yet. dont be sorry cause it's 'gl***. no one cares but maybe you
Mine is literally a backyard build, so leaving motor at machine shop for now. I am making a dash like Customcory today with a sonotube capped with a mixing bowl. I'll take pics.
usbodysource for crazy money. There is an original in the HAMB cl***ifieds or buy usbodysource's racing body with extra weight. Their stock one has a seat riser 4" high at the rear edge of the door. Mine had 2" of foam on that and I could not raise my chin off my chest so floor got cut out and gl***ed in around a pair of fibergl*** racing buckets. Also is 36" between wheel wells so I cut them out to make it 48". As to my other task, I did this this afternoon. I have a dune buggy tilt with a 5" radius front panel, so I got a 9" sonotube at Home Depot (no 10's) and a 9-1/2" mixing bowl at the dollar store. The 2x4 nailed to one side is cut to the cowl curve. I will dress the edges tomorrow when I cut the steering area and the center and gl*** in an oblong pad to hold a pair of 5" gauges (Autometer MCX).
Phil1934, I was wondering if anyone would use those Poly Performance tilt columns on their hot rod, I've got 2 of 'em on the shelf here waiting for a project to put 'em in. They'll most likely end up in Jeep looking buggies though, maybe one for a rod.
