Not only are they Cool, they're Boss.

My Keystone equipped '58 Nomad from 1978, complete with a home made tilt front end.

    348 Tri-power, 3 speed floor shift, 4:56 Posi.

Very quick for the first 100 yards

Use them if you like them. Don't pay any attention to the others. These are the same guys who run air bags and HEI's

Personally I hate them. But I have baught 2 Trans Ams that had them on them. I quickly took them off. But all that matters is that you like them.

There was a maroon/black '40 Ford Deluxe coupe hotrod running around my hometown in the early/mid 70's that had Keystone Klassics. It looked fantastic to my pre-teen eyes and I'd love to duplicate the car right down to the stance and wheels. It's still around but is now a monochrome type street rod. :(

You know whats funny to me?

I posted a pic of my car with them on, and everyone in this post seems to not think they are cool. Last week I took them off and put some steel wheels with baby moons on my car,and posted a before/after in another thread. And everyone told me the car looked better with the Keystones on.

    I am confused.

I guess nobody likes my car at all. Its a good thing I like it!

They look kind of pro-street to me. Not very HAMB-ish.

They were introduced during the same few years that the astro and the raders were, so yeah, i'd say they are HAMB friendly, on a timeline viewpoint. They've been on so many 70's cars, because they were so popular and had staying power. If Astro and Rader had still been in business, they probably would have been as popular and on trucks and camaros too.

One other thing, all this slaming of redneck camaros with keystones on them... everyone forget how many old torque thrust have been on jacked up muscle cars? Also, I grew up around cars with the ass end up in the air, so I love them.

in 1984 i was 10 or so, and my babysitter had a 74 nova. it was black, and silver with keystone mags, and i thought they both were the coolest things on the planet. man, her and that car were my first loves. those were the days

  9. Wait a minute- are you saying that Keystone Classics were around in the mid-60's??

The only thing I remember seeing them on was rusted out '73-'77 Cutlasses and Grand Prix's.

When I was a kid, my old man had an 84 Buick Electra wagon... tan with the woodgrain on the sides, rollin on Keystones and white-letter tires. I still think that car was sweet, and it was the closest my old man has ever come to a cool ride. You know what makes my old man cool though? Giving up a real cool ride, so that he could be the dad taking the entire little league team for ice cream, even if we lost, as long as we played hard!

To me, cool is all about individual tastes. If you like it, do it. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone, who cares what anyone else thinks? THAT is the epitome of cool...

    Cooler than those fugly Cragars.

  12. Man, I got a set of these with peeling chrome off the centers. I blasted 'em and painted the centers with the dark cast iron finish, they look freaking awesome. I have had quite a few guys ask me what they were, they're floored when I tell 'em.
Anyone on here that thinks they suck and has a few laying around cluttering up the garage, you can send 'em to me, especially 15x4s!

Cragar's where introduced in 1964 the Cragar S/S was the brainchild of Roy Ritcher steel rim aluminum center.

I remember about 6 or 7 years ago when most folks wouldn't be caught dead running slots. or cragars (supremes..whatever.) or ye olde centerlines.

last year I sold a set of early centerlines for almost a grand.

buy 'em and keep 'em. they may not be cool right now, but they will be again.

Personally I like the look of a Keystone. Those were one of the styles I was considering for my '62 Ford Fairlane, but I found a set of E-T Daisy mags instead (they nail the period-correct look on my Fairlane!)

    Thanks!

I had a set on a 69 newport with some pollyglass tires they were pretty nice looking but that was 10 years ago and my taste has changed. But HAMB friendly I think not.

    Joe Dirté quote...

Does this look like a piece of crap to you? Like them spinnin' tires do you? Yeah....

You guys got somethin' to say to me? Why don't you say it in the microphone. I got a backup mic right here. Check one two, testing, testing. Yup, they both working and guess what? They don't like no feedback, what's up?

lol. sorry had to share a couple.. was going to share the it puts the lotion on the skin.. but ehh.. little freaky.

  25. I kinda like those Klassics and I like Cragar SS's too. Personal preference I guess, and it depends on what ride they're on. Still can't beat chrome reverses or baby moons on black steels, they seem to look right on everything.

Ah, ugly then........................uglier today!:( (That goes for Cragers too.) Just because something is "old", doesn't make it cool!
