so you post your pics on here and ask for opinions. then when you get opinions your response is fuck em? why ask in the 1st place?
-Exactly, what a bunch of hyper-sensitive sissies. Radial tires on a fenderless hot rod = rat rod Lake pipes on a hot rod = rat rod Skulls, maltese crosses, etc. = rat rod It wasn't the opinion so much as the attitude behind it. For a newbie, you have a bit too much attitude yourself, pal.
nice flatty. If you post cars like this on here, you must be thick skinned. If not, you just end up getting flamed worse. Just suck it up, and you will do fine here.
Around these here parts, we reserve "rat rod" for cars that look like they could have been serving as a rat's nest moments before they were driven to the cruise-in.
As Janis Joplin said at the end her rendition of "LORD WON'T YOU BUY ME A MERCEDES BENZ"........................ "Thats It!" . Defisch; A whole bunch of us would just love to have the start you have on your Model A. Of course, the motor is the heart of it. Have fun with it. Drive the hell out of it. Keep on keepin' on.
Defisch, It has been my experience that bad paint on bad body work looks better than good paint on bad body work. It would look best if you paint it completely flat black then add your signs on the side. Semi gloss or gloss on anything but a perfect line of sheet metal shows the body damage more than the paint since it draws out the flaws. Congrats on painting your ride, and remember that bondo is cheap and experience is free so I'd recommend shooting it one more time with flat black and sand a few spots out on it then try to fill them for practice then reshoot the spot with flat black and you won't even have to try and match it.... it'll just be flat black no matter what. It will look better since flat black hides damn near anything short of a foot wide hole in the body, and it will give you room to practice working on the body without the pressure of having to re-shoot the body every time you play with some mud on it working out the kinks since flat black out of a rattle can just blends right on in with the rest of the flat black already on it. Of course you don't have to listen to any advice, but I'd recommend shooting the flat black over the satin black and it will look ten times better since it will hide the flaws. The ability to work on the body a inch at a time is just a perk to an already good plan. Rule of thumb, never gloss or semi-gloss flaws, it's like putting a big neon sign pointing to them. You can point out a ripple in a calm lake from 100 yards.
It only takes one post. And that post should be of pics of your sedan, when its done -with attitude. Midnight50 has some great advice. take it. Dont rush your work. Certain things should be done before other things. Do it right and check out this HAMB thread for some ideas! good luck EVIL A SEDANS http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14106
I agree with midnight. others sayin its a rat rod i disagree. you said you still have more to do, you just wanted to make it look nice for now. I think you have a great start. I dont recommend the body shop sign on the door, specially if you really do body work for money. good luck drive the hell out of that, most of us cant or wont do the same.
I did not know everybody was so perfect. The last time I looked on the Hamb we are all suposto be on he same team and help one another figure out or rod issues and make some friends but talking shit about someones car instead of offering to help out is chicken shit of u old fucks. I guess all ur builds are perfect and spent a shitload to get it that way. Poor dude is doing what he can for now im shure it will be bad ass when u fininish it. Dont worry and fuck these punks that got nothing better to do with their time and money in fact shove ur purdy cars and $$$ up ur asses I rather hang out and help this due out.
I'm surprised someone didn't dis the flatty for having an alternator...Rat Rod! He built it and he can drive it, and if they had radials in the 50's, everyone would have had em on their old cars and hot rods, so give him a break. Jeeeeeeeesssssh!

ive been a bodyman for 30 years and i just cant believe youve been a painter/ body man for 22 years and you did this quality of work. rat rod or not the work is shitty thats what i was getting at. and if you have been painting and doing body work for over 20 years you shuold know that no matter how tight your budget is that dents and rust need fixed before you spray. and why the hell would you spray anything shiny on top of that shit anyways. you posted the pics like you were proud of it, if you want to take pride in something you kinda need to actually put work in it to be proud of. p.s. i would put the body shop sign on the door so everybody knows the kinda quality work you do.
Jeeezzzz, I didn't mean for this to turn into a fighting match. I have built and painted many very nice streetrods for customers over the years. I just like havin a car thats fun and cheap(under 5k in it) and i dont worry about it gettin scratched. i have a very good reputation in my area and nobody really cares what i drive my car has made a lot of guys around here say"Man, thats what i want something thats just fun, nothing to worry about just go out and cruise and have fun" [q uote=southpark;3637012]ive been a bodyman for 30 years and i just cant believe youve been a painter/ body man for 22 years and you did this quality of work. rat rod or not the work is shitty thats what i was getting at. and if you have been painting and doing body work for over 20 years you shuold know that no matter how tight your budget is that dents and rust need fixed before you spray. and why the hell would you spray anything shiny on top of that shit anyways. you posted the pics like you were proud of it, if you want to take pride in something you kinda need to actually put work in it to be proud of. p.s. i would put the body shop sign on the door so everybody knows the kinda quality work you do.[/quote]

Hey Defisch; Just let this guy go away. It’s narrow minded to think that every inch of the car has to be ready for final paint before you paint it. The misguided opinion that you can’t work on the door as a separate project whilst finishing something else is beyond his scope of reasoning. I call that narrow minded trait “ate up with the dumbass”. It isn’t just that people like that want to diss something for the sake of that, it goes deeper. We need to realize that a person that thinks you can’t take that door off later and fix it is the type that when he gets a dripping faucet in the bathroom he thinks it’s time to buy a new sink. He can’t fathom the in-between. It’s all or none for him. He just don’t get it that you can enjoy your car whilst you are working on it. Further, he also most likely resents it. How dare you have fun with your car while having the ability to overlook some of the work that needs to be done while enjoying it! How dare you have your motor all done and are still working on your car! Of course if you search his posts you will see a chopped up grille that looks like shit because it isn't finished yet, but of course that's okay because, it's his, not yours. Defisch, keep on keeping on, and next time somebody disses your stuff to this idiocic level, consider the source and ignore it. Aside from that an un-finished car doesn't fall in the category of rat, just because it ain't finished. A rat build requires thought to make it a rat. Junk don't make it rat either. We've all seen some wonderful builds in the rat category, just isn't for this forum. Anybody that thinks it's okay to diss a rat, just because it's a rat, is an idiot too. Diss them for coming on the board with a rat when they do, but leave the fact that you don't approve and that makes you the "Im superior" because of that bullshit at hime. I appreciate all categories of builds, but the reason I hang here is because I like Hod Rods most. But I don't lower myself to diss somebody else because they have a different preference. Where you find me dissing somebody is like this guy, acting like an idiot just for the sake of it, who needs to cultivate his social graces, and knows it, but refuses to!
Thanks Nash Yea Im sure glad all of here aren't soo narrow minded and perfect because looking at other peoples rides would be really boreing if they were all the same.(perfect)
Nah, I'll wait till its absolutely flawless and ive got 20 or 30 k in it. Thanks Im over this bullshit.
I cut the centers out of a set of stock 40' wheels and welded them into a set fo 10" wide chrome modular wheels I had laying around.
hey guys whats up my names DeDouche, but my friends( 29nash) call me lazy shit. i have been a welder for 22 years and started doing it when i was really young because i loved it. anyways i needed to get some welding done on the model a this weekend, but the budgets tight and didnt really have time to go get argon for my welder, and didnt want to waste a couple of hours prepping it. i really needed to get this done fast so i could run to internet and show it off to you guys. so check out my welds. p.s. dont say anything mean its not like its on your car!!! i posted for good feedback only opinions are not welcomed on the internet. duh oh i also forgot im going to put " DeDouche's welding "on the side of my door so people know where to come for quality work.
Is this a joke??? You've said some really dumb things, but this takes the cake. I must be extremely narrow-minded, and thank god for that!
