Finish the hard work--small block, 5-speed, nice interior, paint and enjoy. Then when something better comes along, or you decide to start hunting the car you've always wanted, it'll sell better.

    Or flip it now.

  4. If it was mine (and I wish it was) I'd build it mild and dependable. Grins and MPG and safety would be my goal. Why? Cuz it would appeal to everybody and be easy to sell down the line.

I had a convertible for 2 weeks...then sold it before the wife found out. 1st thing I did was install front lowered springs ...wasn't expensive and made a nice rake on the car. Keep the original front springs just in case the new buyer is an originality freak.

The OHC Pontiac would be neat, if you can find one......

  14. If you decide to make a gasser out of it I might have a complete bolt-on setup I'd sell you. Click on my car club link below and check out "Jim's Nova" on the members link. I'd sell it for what I have into it. Only reason I'm selling is the wife lost her job and I have to get rid of one of my 4 projects. One of our other members is fabricating these, but I'd sell this one for cheaper (what I have invested). Not trying to pitch anything, just thought I'd offer it up if you went the gasser route.

Hard to make a suggestion here. Normally I would say Gasser, but that red car with the Salt Flat Special's looks killer too. Descision, descisions...

planning on a 2" drop, steel wheels with whitewalls and spidercaps/trim rings, and shiny new red paint.

the interior is in great shape, and good for a while. but eventually i want some super sleek Fat Lucky's style vinyl work.

great find Jeff... wanna share how much you gave for it? just curious what these are going for now.

One of my neighbors had a convertible Chevy II Nova. He built up the six added a cam and 3 carbs, buckled up a 4-speed box behind it and replaced the hubs and rearend with V8 5-bolt wheel pieces. Had the car for years and years, nice and fun in the sun, but I'd take a hardtop anyday too!
