I know its not very hamby but I just sold my first car to help me build my second. Me and my dad spent about a year in high school slowly fixing it it up. We rebuilt the front suspension, added power breaks, power steering and a 350/th350 that ran reall realiably, and painted up the engine compartment. I loved driving that car around and Im gona miss it. So what was your first car?

  2. I picked up my wife in my car in the early 1980's from high school.... it was the first car I bought to actually fix up, and this is the way I drove it back then. I still own the car, but it's a getting little more "refined" over the years.... LOL

Here it is, back in the day...

Nice '67.....my wife has been wanting one for quite awhile...they're her favorite.

My 1st was this, it used to be that ugly Gold color.....and I almost sold it.....luckily, I had no buyers at the time. I've since came to my senses and will p*** it down to my son when the time is right (@ another 20yrs....hahaha!)....

Traded in a three-year-old bright red '69 Chevelle on a brand new '72 Fiat. I think they gave me about $800. What can I say, the Arabs were cutting off our oil, gas was almost 79 cents a gallon, Vietnam was still fresh, it was a different time ........

60 Impala. I bought it when I was 16, which turned out to be illegal.

I got lucky and my first car was both worthless and bad*** fast. We've had many good years together, and someday it'll be structurally sound enough to open the secondaries again......

Well, my first car was the '57 Super, but the '63 Electra was the first I drove, so that's kind of like a first, and I'm trying to sell it now. I think I'll hold on to the '57 though.

My first car was a 51 Chevy four door. Bought it when I was 13 in 1995, traded it for a 64 Impala in 1998 just before my 16th birthday, and hadn't seen the car since. Then around easter of 06, a friend of mine found it, bought it, and gave it back to me(good friends are priceless). I am currently building into a full kustom, just like I wanted to do when I was a kid(see avatar).

First car was '39 ford. Had several flat heads in it. The last was a 276 with three 97's, headers, heads, etc. Then I decided it needed more so a 283 small block with chev 3 speed and 50 ford rear end on double leaf springs. The 283 had a 30/30 Duntov cam, AFB four barrel, heads, etc. Sold the car then bought it back for $1.00 without enging or trans. It's not the same the second time around so I sold it again and bought a '63 split window Corvette. Hope you have fun with the next project.

My Dad talked me into buying a new 72 Maverick for my first car, 6 cly, 3 speed cheppo ($1900) drove it a year, hated it, no regreats selling it. Bought a 68 Barracuda Formula S with the proceeds, blown engine, drug it home with a chain. Thought my folks were gonna have a heart attack, couldn't understand why I sold a nice car and bought a POS. The Barracuda however I wish I still had. IF I ever find another 68 Formula S with the 4 speed that I could afford ( Thanks BJ! ) I'd have to buy it.

Bought my first car for $100 back in '76 at 15 yrs old. It was a 1970 Mercury Montego MX w/ a 351 Cleveland and an automatic. Maroon with black interior and plenty of rust (I lived in the suburbs of Cleveland). My dad called me and my buddy the "Bondoleers". Sold it fairly quickly so I could buy a '68 Javelin SST and it went on and on from there.

Started building my first "car" at age 14-15 (circa 1975-76) ... a '29 Roadster Body, '32 Frame rails, misc parts ... never got very far with that hi-boy project (too busy helping my father with his many restorations & builds) ... kept it in the back corner of the shop for many years ... finally parted it out at a local swap meet in the 90s. :(

I still own my first (drivable) car ... it's way O/T for the HAMB ... a 1962 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Normale:

My first car was an OT used 81 Malibu wagon that was handed down to me. Didn't like it much then, don't miss it at all now. I bought My 1955 Buick Special when I was 17 and have had it ever since. Couldn't sell it if I wanted to. Been through too much for too long with each other, we've tried to kill each other and had to save each other. Man, now I wish it was more than 17 degrees out, I need to go for a ride in it....

Mine was a 1935 Lafayette Town Car that I payed 25.00 for. I sold that car to a car museum for 5000.00 two years later. That's when I knew old cars were for me. all this happened in 1961- 1963. We had a wrecking yard in Gresham Oregon that would sell us T buckets and Model A bodies for 35-50 dollars.

This was my very first...a project that never did see the street. Managed to round up all the parts but never got 'em together quite right enough to move very far on its own... :(
