I've already spent "private time" with it. :D

    Is that wrong?

All joking aside fellas, does anyone know the history of this manifold? Not this particular one, but the X series in general. Are they so rare because they were eXperimental as the nomenclature suggests? Were they just really eXpensive, and that's why there aren't that many left? I know they made them for SBC BBC and Poncho along with 392 Hemi. Any others?

Yeah, they appear in the catalogs in 1961, and then disappear in 1968. So they were in production (all of the X manifolds) for seven years. And for some reason, the Hemi one seems to be the least produced, or at least the least saved.

As for power, Automotion reports power from one of their 2GC setups on one for a guy in California in the 600+hp range. That motor was on pump gas, magneto, X-3, stroked to 428cid, headwork, etc. Much the same specs we're going to do this one. And we'll have ours dyno'd, so we'll have a sheet to prove the power ratings.

We also now believe THIS X-3 came from Don Garlits himself. But so far we haven't proven it.

run one on the street now....the long runners enable you to tune.

initially had idle circuits shut down on all 4 outboard carbs, wouldnt run.

hamber coldwar put a tune on them using six seperate vac gauges.

they all seem to wanna be tuned in sync like a row of jap bike carbs.

works slick as snot, plugs burn nice co-co brown, no fuel dilusion etc.

far superior over the log set up, you will be very happy.

if you s the rear bolt studs you can run small base rochester carbs like i do

I'm going to weld up the 3 bolt holes in the mounting bosses and then redrill the manifold for 2GC's on the mill.

my 1962 X-2 for pontiac allready had 4 bolt pattern. kinda bent rear studs into a z-ed config to index the small base rochesters. the goofy outward bend fits under the bases Ok. for the money I have into the eelco linkage ,carbs, intake , could have afforded a blower ! !

    Jeeeeeez ! !

Hamber coldwar has the literature on this X-2 line maybee pm him.

he also has the patent on a really cool linkage bracket
