Projects '50 olds top chop and other stuff

Found some more pics to post of my buddy's '50 Olds we are chopping. It is something that gets worked on between paying jobs. The watson roadster is a project we did last winter. Thought some people would dig the race car stuff.

 

Wow! Have any overall shots of the profile. I really like it, the metalwork is top notch!!!!

 

The Watson roadster is beautiful. Now the Oldsmobibble shows a very well planned throughly executed body modification. You guys are in the zone. Like to see more pics of the Olds. Great work, The FOGGER

Is the Watson roadster a new build or restoration? Any history on the car & who did the original metal for the Watson shop? How did you find the quality of the original metalwork?
Oh, and the Olds shows signs of mastery metal work, great detail work.

wow that is some kick *** work

 

we shaped all the panels for the watson. it is actually a "kind-of" recreation of AJ's '64 winner and Parnelli's #98 car. We took what we liked from the two cars and made our own. Eddie Kuhzma built both the original cars we used as inspiration. We did the body for a friend who plans to drive it on the street.

 

That chop is slick. How many thousand times have you done this before??

 

Beautiful work. Is that the original back window in the Olds? I'd like to see a full profile pic of that car, looks very good. The racer is neat too, the bodywork is beautiful.

That chop looks like it flows well. Looks like you even tipped the beltline in to help? The cleanliness of those cuts and the working area is something lots of folks to pay attention to!

Thanks for all the positive input. All the bare metal panels were made from scratch. the back window is from a mid '30s chevy. We are using the garnish moulding trim ring from the chevy on the interior. We will metal finish all the panels so there will be no filler or lead except in areas where the back of the panel cannot be reached to permit planishing. Its our first top chop, but what you see in the pics isn't neccessarily our first version either. Those c-posts are version 3.

Nice chop! excellent metal work. decklid doesnt look bad as is, but a little taken out of it would look good as well. whats the plans with the quarters? good idea with the back window, i always thought the stock window in that style gm cars were too big to lean back.

 

Why do I even continue to work on my turd bucket '49?... I am so not even in the same league with all you HAMB guys!

I worked for this mofo for almost 2 years....he is capable of some of the most beautiful work most of us will ever see...I've been tryin to get his *** on here posting for a good minute. Im glad he has decided to share some pics, I mean seriously guys this is his first chop!! SUPER RAD!
