This is the latest creation to come out of The Champion Speed Shop. Driven by Adam Sorokin. This is the first shots of the car with it's state of the art enclosed driver cockpit. All I can say is WOW!This the car doing shake downs @ Sacremento Raceway. I just thought I'd post this and see what U all thought of this.

That's gonna make it hard to wipe the oil away to see when you get a bath.

  3. It may be fast but there are to many things about it that don't work for me. Give me an old restored digger any day.

    Exactly.
Adam and the Champion Speed Shop gang are testing at Bakersfield this weekend, along with a bevy of other nitro cars. The last CSS rail to run a SBC was a total badass and this should just be more of the same.
I know, it needs a windshield wiper in case of an oildown, but Adam's not complaining. He said he'll keep me posted on the test 'n' tune, so I'll pass along any progress reports right here.
    Stay tuned,
    Scotty

  12. just because the motor is in the front doesn't mean it is cool.

Bobby McLennan of Champion Speed Shop says the idea was: What if the Glass Slipper style cars had continued - what would they look like today? That's the basic premise. You'll have to ask Bobby for more details...
This SBC has some serious hair on it - look for big numbers when they get it sorted out.

I talked to Adam yesterday and I told him he should put "Sork under glass" on the top of the windshield. LOL!! Then he was suggesting they put a No Solicting sign on the top of the roof hatchLOL!

function over form. If it beats the piss out of the competition, who the hell cares if it has a windshield. what is worse? having a funky windshield or being beat by the guy with the funky windshield?

If you have not been down the track in a FED you CAN NOT criticize if a windshield is wrong. Having been oiled down and fire in my face I would of loved being enclosed. Another thing is at speed your helmet is trying to get sucked of your head.

  21. I don't care about the windshield.

the parts i don't like are: the body, the front tires, the front wheels, the fuel tank vent, the canard wings, the front wing, the front suspension.... It looks like all the other modern FEDs, just a modern rear engine car with the motor in the wrong place.

In the mid 1990's The S & S automotive entry out of San Leandro, Ca. ran what is arguably the baddest SBC ever to compete in any NHRA catagory, Their PSI supercharged SBC ran in the low 5.6 sec High 5.5 second range, and their "unfair advantage" (LBS per C.I.) caused the NHRA to outlaw their car.

The Santos family made the NHRA eat their rule change when they teamed with Jack O'Bannon and Norn Grimes to win 5 Top Alcohol Dragster Championships with HEMI power.

At 80 years of age, you will find George Santos at the shop everyday with his sons, building some of the fastest SBC's on the planet.

Great people, and VERY knowledgeable. (I am proud to call them friends)

Kev, I know that really didnt answer your question, but I felt like typing..:D

"SORK UNDER GLASS" is good. I hope they put that on there.
Yeah, it's obviously a modern car - these guys are about winning. If it were up to me, it'd be a K-88 and at least 2 seconds slower, plus I'd never get through tech, either.
But I love it for what it is...

It's cool because it is built to go fast enough to win. Not sure how I feel about the aesthetics of the canopy, but if it works, more power to them.

I get why they do all that stuff on the new F.E.D.s, but if a driver was willing to sit low, this is absolutely possible... Might even be fast.

How 'bout this....I have another chassis just like this one. It's legal and the motor's 31" out (enough for a typical NTF set up and a reverser.) I'll add 45" to it and mount a solid axle, build the body I just sketched in the picture above and then paint it. I'll even run my Donovan in it, even though it's only a "6.0" motor on 80%.

I'll drive it. Who want's to partner up? (707) 843-9454 ask for Tim....
