2009 Mercury Gathering Book (sneak peek pics)

These are a few of the cars that I have been able to get processed, I thought you guys might like them and to do a little pre-release advertising. For me to be able to take photos of these cars at night, and being in the Merc Room alone with them was incredible!!!! A serious dream come true! I want to thank John Buck and Axle. Without them these photos wouldnt have been made. Great, great guys.

Great to hear guys! Yeah all these were taken at the autorama this year. I had access to the building in the evening after the show closed for the night. I had all night with the ***y ladies. It was a blast.

 

**** man, I will be ordering a whole lot more then just 1 of these. Any idea if they are going to be hardback? I remember talkin to you a littlebit Josh when you were setting up to shoot and I have to admit it was kind of a trippy feeling to be around all those Kustoms like that, in that building in the dark with almost nobody around. I think forsure the Kustom Gods were lookin down.

 

Hey Jeff, There will be three books available, an 8x10 softcover and hardcover and a large format harcover, it will be a huge 13"x11"! Its great that you want more than 1. This is my first book and I think it will be my favorite, just for the subjects in it. You said the gods were looking down, thats funny...When I was shooting I saw the cutout of Barris reflecting in the gl*** doors and actually thought some was standing there. After I realized what it was and looked up and said hi to Sam. He was watching...

 

You better believe he was watchin along with the Ayalas,**** Dean, and all the others. It may sound weird but that is the truth!!! No doubt,they were up there saying "Wow look what we started, and all these years later look at this gathering."

 

I'm in!!

Mmmmmmm....car ****.

 

I must say it was a honor to have my mercury in that building and I will never forget that,but this book is going to be historical in many ways.Instead of just relying on our memories in our heads,we will be able to look through this and see what was going on and how historical that building really was.Also to be able to show the people who could not get there all of the great photos in a book format is going to be special.Dont get me wrong the pics on the computer are great but to be able to sit and turn pages of a book that represent that weekend is going to be unforgetable.I feel this book is going to be almost as important down the road as the show was.In years to come when people talk about this show the question will be asked " Do you remember the merc gathering ? Did you ever get that book that was put out about the merc building?" Im not trying to get cheesy on here or anything but this was just on my mind this morning and I thought I would put it down.So I just want to say thanks for doing this book and I hope the people support the book and buy tons of copies,you deserve it Josh!!! One more thing, I would feel the same way about this even if my car was NOT in this book.

 

I'll never forget it! I'll always remember driving all the way up there,running out of gas,meeting Jim Mcneil and all the other Merc guys,parking outside the door! I'm gonna buy that book so my kids will know I was there...and I drove my Merc there!!!

Didn't bother me at all,being parked outside. It would have ****ed being there without my Merc. I'm just glad it was in California,where I could drive to it. NOT fly,like Rikster...

 

As soon as I get a website up for the Book ill be taking preorders and will have prices up too. I cant take credit for me being there, Mercury Charlie invited me and said that I HAD to be there. He didnt know why but he KNEW I had to be there. As soon as I walked in to that building I could feel great things. And when I saw these cars and the guys talking about them I knew this had to do***ented. Ill be the first to admit, I know nothing about he history of any of these cars, but god damn it do I love them and have complete and total respect for them and their builders. Im loving learning about them as I go.

Jeff, I have one word for what you said. Respect.
