Projects Hypothetical build question: will I go to hell if I do this...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by fur biscuit, Mar 2, 2009.

  1. Seems that with every build there is a fundamental question at that is at the front of our minds: "If I build this, will I get laid", then just behind that is "Am I going to go to hell for this"

So, my dreams were dashed in a slew of attorneys and paper work, and my model T (it is mine, but I can't have it) sits safely in San Diego away from my creative little mits. So in a fit of frustration and angst, I had the illustrious BenD haul my new project home to the north.

As excited as I am about my new prospect, there is a moral question at play...what do I build?

Now, we are not talking cutting up one of 380 thousand Dueces, nor modifying blue label 3 litre Bentleys long chassis to make a Red label short chassis car: there are "tousan's of 'em" right? Is cutting up the word I want? And it is not definately not taking a supremely complete, nicely restored 250 GT Ferrari and having hacked into pieces to make a 250 GTO or a pontoon fendered Testarossa replica.

But at what point do you determine that maybe, I should proceed in the general direction of something less drastic? confliction!

Happily the chassis length is exactly what I want, and the dive train, wheels and suspension compenent will definately fit the bill. But there a few problems, the engine is in the wrong location, and there is all this extraneous stuff stuck all over it, and that stuff is "original".

this is what I want to build...

problem is this is kinda what I got...(no body, just radiator, hood, cowl, and fenders)

the big reason is that in order to make the second one look right, I won't fit. And I hate roadsters.

I just want to be an average kid with an hot rod, just like all the cool kids. ;)

  2. see, this clown has one too, and he doesn't fit EITHER!!!

Why not? I'll admit, I have no idea what it is.............but there was a lot of coachbuilding going on back then. If you aren't hacking stuff up, then it's no foul at all. However, if you aren't hacking stuff up, is it really hot rodding? ;)

Always think of it as an alteration, if not an improvement, from the original design. That and a way to get some tail.

You have a beautiful car ! You won't go to hell for making a T the way you want it . It's your car ! If you have to depend on a chunk of metal and tires to get laid , that's as sad as it gets !
YEP , you will surely go to Hell for that frame of mind !
Build the "T" and have fun , the tail will follow !

If it wasn't meant for you to cut it up, you wouldn't have been allowed to buy it...

What in the hell are you talking about? I lost you about midway somewhere. It's a Ford you got? If so, cut it up and make it cool.

Rule number one: When you create a car, fix the parts so you can be comfortable driving it!

Okay, I think I'm following you, but first of all define the plan! Coachbuilt?................. Don't do what Dean said, it'll grow hair all over your palms!

  20. this is what it looks like: a big model T.

the body (from the cowl back) is off of a Stearns-Knight

    Holy shit!!!....................I vote coachbuilt!

  23. so here is what I am thinking:

this chassis with (which is exactly 3" longer than the green car). with bobbed fenders, and the 4 place vanden plas lemans style coach work

or the 2 place doorless roadster.

neither is quiet correct, but I just cant see it with doors.

Is that a Stutz? That would look awesome with that touring body on it and an engine setback. Do it!

    Better yet, make it underslung.
