They've been added Eddie ... Thanks! FYI ... for you 'hands on' sheet-metal guys--> http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=338035
The 170 HP engine used a milder cam than the 185 HP engine, the same low lift cam as the ' 56 162 HP engine...
Sorry to hear Tony is gone. Pete Sciro and I pitted next to him at the Gators sometime in the mid 70's. What a neat guy. I have serveral magazines that have articles on him. I will check later today and see if they have any photos of him.
Done ... don't know how Tony was missed! Tony getting a 'a little bit off the sides' at Englishtown's 'M&H Barber Shop' (circa 1971). Steve Perrault photo:
I though it might be fun for some of you guys that are NOT (like me!) artistically dysfunctional, to come up with a design for a decal/patch/T-shirt 'iron on' etc. that we could 'copy and print' and 'use as we'd choose.' It could be a great conversation piece at the monthly 'widows & widowers' (my personal fave) meeting, as a 'walker' decal when visiting Starbuck$, or on a nice knit golf shirt when you next meet with your financial advisor at 'The Club' to reconfigure your retirement portfolio.
There is an article in the May 1969 issue of Super Stock magazine on Tony preparing "520" heads that has a photo of him ccing a head. I am unable to scan at this time but maybe someone has this magazine that can. Also another article on preparing a 396 for a B/S Camaro in April 1972 Super Stock magazine. Gotta keep the memories alive.
Hi Don, I have some magazines that might have a pic. My nephew Tony Jr is coming up from Florida this week with pics of my brother and we will post them this week. Jim Pizzi
Recent Post by Dennis K.<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_3657824", true); </SCRIPT> on the SS Thread (1831 ) shows that early-in-life involvement in Stock/SS Drag Racing leads to (for the most part) a long healthy life! As to taste in belt buckles, caps, hair style, and attire ... well, in life, you just can't win 'em all! <SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_3657824", true); </SCRIPT>
Shades of Jocko-liner Batman, quick, to the Bat Cave. That looks like it would be more at home at Bonneville than the dragstrip. The "tuners" will love that thing, whatever it is. What is it, by the way? Butch/56sedandelivery.
I have one of these in my garage, it only has 28,000 miles on it, the tri=power is slow to warm up but then it's a runner! These cars once ruled D/SA.
and look at the cost of these cars... it's very easy to see why Brackets are so popular among the racers, if not the fans!
Our local paper had an obituary notice for Marion Wheatley, Sr.(90), Jay & Buck's father. I will attend the viewing tonight and see Buck for the first time in about twenty years. Although not a happy occasion, I am looking forward to renewing an old friendship.
Until I read it in another forum, I did not know that Mary Ann Foss married Bill Jackson (Jackson Scratcher) and may still be racing.
Ramon always had first class cars. How about pics of his '62? Anybody have any more Pontiac pics? I need some inspiration for my next project. How about the Fred Davisson '56, or '62 SD car? Looking for pics of the Bob Gaudreau driven 64, 66, and 67 GTOs from the Northeast.
Fuel injection was only available on the Bonneville in 57 & 58. The 58 unit had a cast aluminum intake manifold similar to Corvette. The 57 unit had a die stamped steel intake, kind of odd looking, but this flowed better than the porous aluminum. These injections were stolen from donor Bonnevilles and put onto other models depending on weight / hp / class being desired.
