Features Model A roadster highboys on Model A frames

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Chris, Jan 3, 2009.

  1. This is BY FAR one of the best threads on the board. I just filled a folder with images and can't believe how many great cars are archived here. Most of these cars are true testament to the "less is more philosophy" and proof again that it doesn't take much if you stick with Henry's parts and have an eye.

  4. Tim,
So what you are telling me is that my '53 F1 fronts and typical 9" rears with a '62 chevy truck twin m/c hanging in an Ansen pedal assembly will do fine if I drive it like we used to drive the old drum brake setups.
I still drive my disc brake cars that way.
People give me a hard time for my " grandma" driving, but I remember drums.
The way I see it, this setup was designed to stop a 3500# p/u, so it should work fine for an 1800# roadster with a 4 speed. Thanks, Mike

  5. It's really hard to beat either painted stantions with a chrome frame or a painted frame with chrome stantions...

Start a phaeton tread and we'll load on ya lots of pics. Give me a hint if you do so I don't miss it. Got some pics stashed away on the disc ready to share.

Makes it easier for guys searching later to find exactly what they'r looking for.

Subscribed. Awesome thread w/ tons of inspiration. When I finally get around to building something, I don't know what year or make it'll be but it won't have a roof and it'll be lower than Mr. Madoff.

Those photos posted are from The Hot Irons website.... www.hotironclub.com

I'd know, I posted them there. I was given them from the son of the fellow who's dad was in our club in the 1930s and who's uncle started the club.

The first photo is one of the 29 roadster I'm actually re-creating. The second one is of the Festa-Brissaud roadster in 1939-40.

    I also love this thread!
Say I have a Flathead newbe question. If you wanted to build a 31 roadster would you use a V8 Flatty or a Four banger?

    Thanks
    Please be gentle. :D

A banger! It takes a certain kind of person to drive a banger motor though, then again, a Flattie does as well :D :p
