OK: How About a POSITIVE HARBOR FREIGHT Thread???

Diveway patrol?!? I'm not sure I've seen that but it sounds great. The next time I get a catalog(probably within the next 24 hours, tehy come about every day) I'll be looking for it.

Besides the step drill bits, the other must-have item is the 6" digital caliper! Around $14 onsale I think? I've used it a million times, just remember to remove the battery every time you're done using it or it'll wear out in a month or two.

I *hate* switching wheels on grinders, so I keep one with a cutoff wheel and another with a grinding wheel and grab whichever I need...I never thought about using my spare for a flap disk, I'm gonna have to do that!

I've never actually burned one out I don't think, just killed one by cutting the power cord or given one away. So I'm *still* 11 grinders ahead of my friend's Metabo, and I'm not gonna cry or curse the sky when I kill one like he will!! And I don't have to change that stupid wheel every time I wanna switch from grinding to cutting, either!

Actually I have a high school locker filled with HF stuff in the box. Either spares or stuff I got on sale that I *will* use, but just haven't gotten to yet!

Man I didn't realize till this thread just how much crap from HF I have. I've got a duffel bag full of air tools, probably a dozen, and about as much money in them as the few craftsman airtools my friend has. Mine probably leak more air and won't be handed down to my kid's kids but I'll get lots more done with them than if I only had 2 or 3 brand name ones!

Plus I won't shed a tear or throw it across the room when they give up the ghost, because I'm probably not out more than 10 or 15 bucks!

 

I got a 4.5 grinder and a 1/2" drill also bought a drill press and an air chisel.. im still happy

Their gloves are the same as everyone else's. Good luck finding any glove made in the USA. If you do, please let me know.

I have to say that I prefer Northern Tool & Equipment over HF. seem to have more & the prices are right in line.

 

I bought a set of number punches there. They must have been put on upside down because they kept coming out backwards. I had to give the cop a mirror so he could read the numbers right side up.

Bead roller, cheap (not low cost) but gets the job done for light material
Throat-less sheer
sheet metal clamps
Bead blasting cabinet (not the gun, upgrade that)
Engine hoist leveler (the real heavy duty one, the normal duty one is junk)
A-frame with electric hoist
Lift table/cart (great for loading/unloading engines into a truckbed)

I guess I have and use more of their stuff then I thought, when buying just be aware that they have junk to and check out what you buy in person, I would never buy from them online, too much risk it is junk.

Overall, I don't use anything from there that is electrical, needs a sharp edge, or can hurt me in normal use.

 

...at least they have public restrooms.

The only dissapointment I have with the HAMB is positive Harbor Freight threads, although someone said they did have a few things made in the U.S.A.

Guess it must be my poor treatment of tools...every time I've bought cheapshit tools,I've ended up buying another,better one immediately..so I've never even been into HF...Their flyers they used to send me YEARS ago were printed on toilet paper,and their stuff even looked like shit in the pics,IMHO..

i have an e-wheel, planishing hammer, stretcher/shrinker, the e-wheel is way out of wack, you can kinda use it, i look at it as a kit that still requires some assembly, a few things need to be cut apart and reworked, the planishing hammer i have yet to use, i see it has a black cap on the frame i'm guessing your supose to fill it with sand maybe?, to help keep the noise down?, the stretcher/shrinker i have used some and seems to work fine, i shrank some 16ga hot rolled a couple of days ago, it was a 1-1/2 L with just a slight arc to it over 20", the legs on the stand are no good, there just flat bar standing up on edge and bolted to the upright, so i'll replace them as well, everything i bought i would consider just starter tools, all of it i'll sell down the road and be happy if i get 1/2 what i paid, this is after i fix them up..lol..my first set of tools were plastic and i was 3

 

I bought a chain-saw electric sharpener a couple of years ago for around $35.00. I've sharpened quite a few chains with it and it's still going strong.

Some of their stuff is good and some crap. Unfortunately, I don't have quite as much disposable cash as some of you guys that 'only buy American', to always buy top shelf.

 

I have to agree with you a positive HF thread WTF! The only thing I have from there is a die grinder.

 

I've gotten trouble free miles out of:

cutoff wheels
transfer punches
floor jack
electric flyswatter on sale for $3.00, not for flys but for zapping friends

i have a wide assortment of tools from HF, craftsman, snap-on, mac, and others, seriously who gives a crap were it comes from, its all about who can save me more money and still provide a decent product. i will admit there is a lot of things ya just dont buy from HF lol. but i do have many quality tools from there and i dont care where its made.

 

I have several thing I've bought and had very good luck with. I dont buy their hand tools...ever. I do have their largest bench grinder - use it 3-4 times a week, A transmission jack - used it twice in 2 years and it worked great, a few of their "professional" line of pneumatic tools - thing I may use 2-3 times a month, nothing i would use daily. I know from experience there's nothing like a GOOD tool, but if your not using something daily it's hard to justify the cost sometimes. There...my 2 cents are in.

got all kinds of stuff from Harbor Freight. don't think I'd ever buy a grinder (or anything you need to plug in) "it's only 10 bucks so when it breaks you just throw it away" is not a good selling point for a tool in my book.

They're bitchin for welding up patch panels and I couldn't find them anywhere else.
