Event Coverage PHOTOS: AMERICARNA 2009 In NEW ZEALAND - Second AMAZING Time In A Row! Modem BUSTER!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by KIRK!, Mar 7, 2009.

  1. Kirk, the picture of your daughter with the BIG kitty just sums up the whole trip, to see a look like that on her face must have been worth the trip alone...

And you got to see the Vampire fly.... :D

Great stuff as always, did the Fonz travel with you? Has he got pic's too?

  2. Great coverage KIRK! Makes me homesick. Did you notice at MOTAT the plane that flew BEFORE the Wright brothers? A well kept secret for some reason. Too bad you won't be there in March for the Hot Rod Blowout (traditional show) followed by the Nostalgia drags the following weekend. I look forward to Denise's coverage! Looks like you were pretty lucky with the weather, rain is always an issue with NZ events. Is Gary going to write something about his trip for the Gazzette. Did the Meador's take an extra week to look around too?

  3. Awesome pix...definitely on my list of places to visit...thanks for sharing KIRK!

  4. Really great photos of neat cars and a beautiful part of the world. Thanks for letting us enjoy a bit of your trip.

I don't know if Gary will, but I'll be doing another piece for the Gazette. They only had a couple of extra days but Gary was really sick for them.

HEY! I got a couple of texts from you while I was over there, but I couldn't open them for some reason.

KIRK, Fantastic pictures as always, looks like you and your family had a GREAT time that in it's self is good enough, but with all those cool cars too that just tips it over the edge!
The Kiwis I've meet have always been real nice, laid back people.

    Nick.

Thanks for the great pics- doing the Haka is lots of fun! I got to perform it for a good friend a few years ago when he moved back to Philly from New Zealand- I'll see if I can find a video of the "All Blacks" (rugby team) doing it. It's pretty impressive

Are you sure the kids weren't doing the Haka?

great pictures Kirk, thanks for posting.

(when I played rugby in college, we used to do the speach from "Henry V" as our openning challenge. But watching the All Blacks do the Haka, is a completely different ball of wax)

Cool, thanks for posting the pics Kirk and nice narratives too. Read the whole post and almost felt like I could have been there and now wish I had. Seems like a real fun and positive event with a lot of cool and diverse side trips. Cool that you took your family along. That is maybe telling of what the whole event was about and maybe the nicest part as well.

Did that Volcano cause concern? From the number of Pics looks like it was on your mind.

    Thanks for sharing.

Well, now I've just got to do this trip some day, too. Thanx. Loved the TUI beer truck and that bull with a hide that looks better than an old Jag dash. Thanx for the travel log. Gary

    Great pics, thanks for sharing.

I honestly don't think I've ever seen a full-width 55 Desoto grille used on a Merc with the parking lights worked into the fenders like this one, I always see them narrowed. I think I like this look better than the narrowed bar, I'd love to see what it would look like with the big teeth intact.

The locals are VERY proud of their mountain, but it's usually covered by mountains, so I shot a bunch of pics while it wasn't hiding.

That's cool how they celebrate American culture. Thanks for the pictures Kirk.

Now they all need to get laid off, let their car's go back, and put their home's into foreclosure.

    That's real American culture.

I`m glad you had such a good time.Food for thought, though.....My first couple of trips from NZ to the U.S.A. resulted in an identical reaction from me regarding this country.....I met terrific people, saw fantastic places and wanted to move here (which I did....) Probably the biggest difference was the miles travelled...I`ve always found both Good and Bad in any place I`ve ever been.....
