I had a Plymouth just like that one, without the nice paint job. It had a 392 Hemi Desoto with a Chet Herbert roller cam and six deuce's, welded spyder's and some big slicks. That was in the 60's. It ate Corvette's for lunch when it hit 3rd gear. Yes it only had a 3 speed but it was a tough one.

It was a complete mattress!




Hmmmmm..... Never heard the noise??

 

Some more to the story on that mattress was that the truck it was caught on only stopped because the steel whipping around punched a hole in the gas tank. The truck stopped when the gas all drained out & it quit.

1. Why would you run over a mattress in the first place???

2. Why wouldn't you stop when it did not appear in the rearview mirror??

3. When the truck started vibrating & shaking would it not occur to you that "Gee, maybe this has something to do with the mattress I ran over???????????????"

We all have dumb moments but some people should not be allowed out of the house unsupervised.
