LuckysGal and I got home around midnight after what turned out to be a fantastic weekend. I got to hang out with my buddy Clay Rathburn and his wife Erin and watch them clean up trophy wise with their 70 Triumph. We went to some of the best restaurants in town. Spent a few nights in the swankiest hotel in Detroit, went out drinking with the guys from Low Brow custom, caught up with friends from around the country, and even managed to win a trophy myself. All and all I really couldn't ask for a better time or a greater show. The sixties show cars upstairs were worth the price of admission alone. Thanks to Rudy and everyone who puts on the show, Singlefinger Speedshop for giving us a place to hang out and drink all your pop, and Denise for the mingle (even though I was too wasted to make it out there, sorry) Another Autorama Detroit is in the books, but I'm already thinking about next year. Here's a few pics I snapped over the weekend.
These are random shots from Friday-Sunday including myself, Kirk Hanning, and Bill Walters with some hardware and Clay and me with his trophies from Dan Webb as well as the prize for sickest cycle.
Man look at all those trophy hounds Now I know why you cleaned up yer hot rod! Seriously though I'm glad you guys got some hardware. Well deserved.
Deranged doesn't even begin to describe her status. She was the only one of our little group who ended up with bruises from riding the people mover. Aparently you can flip around on the grab rails like a set of monkey bars
PERFECT!!! I cant believe Jr hauls those damn gliders everywhere we go. Detroit is so good to get a chance to see everyone that you may only see once or twice a year. The quality of MOST of the cars downstairs was so much better this year. A lot less tuner car was also nice. Great job Rudy.
As much as you'd like to, some things you just can't unlearn. Did anybody see Bob K getting all misty-eyed near the Predicta?
Anyone got any more info on this vehicle? Another thread already...searched some but without knowing about it, it's like needle in haystack... Thanks...
The three amigos, Kirk , Scott and Bill... what a bunch of yeahoos! BTW- what the hell is Kirk looking at?
I was reading the board in that T-bird's display but I was also drinking however I do remember it is paint and the words "mirror polish" were involved. Other than that I can't help.
God I'm tired. 8 am to Midnight for 5 straight days is alot of work, but you all make it worth it. Scott and everyone else that comes make the show. I love to hear people had a good time. Car quality will improve with time, the more we have to choose from the better the show will be. This year we grew again and the tuners shrunk Thanks again to everyone who took part in what is becoming the best indoor show of it's kind.
What trophy did you get? Most wasted girlfriend? She was telling us all about the problem with her rear end. I was enthralled until she told me it was her truck that had the problem!!! Court's truck RUNS today so we'll BE THERE next year with it!!
I dunno Roadstar, From what I saw, if the quality improves much more, we'll have to push all of those "water cooled checkbooks" out from upstairs! The craft & the passion lives in the basement!
