    OOOOOOOO, sweet ride, AHotRod.
    I've got a great idea for a '63-'66 ChevII.
Orignal 230 w/integral two-bbl. truck head from a late 250, 3 angles on the valves, marine cam (248 Crane is very close, btw), truck exhaust with Four feet of "Cherry Bomb" shoved in the middle of that pipe.
Polygraphite bushings, newer PFDBs, 200-4R tranny (no lock-up) twisting 3.73's and period rallye rims shod with P205/70-14's (GY Eagles, or Michelin's, if possible).
According to my calculations, should be around 140 horses pushing about 2750 lbs with gearing to die for and 60mph would be about 2200 rpm.

    ...

here is the 261 i just picked up it just came out of a 50 coupe. the owner and his wife are getting older and wanted a auto. so i picked it up for a really good price. complete. with split exhaust. good runner. I'll drop it in my 51 coupe after some work to the head. with twin carb split pipes and a cam. should be a great runner. i will run my fresh 235 with the T-5 in the car for this year.

Off topic for this board as it may be, pops and I just won the bid (yesterday) for an '04 Trail blazer (who knew they made them 2WD ). We're gona stuff it in our '50 Jimmy (1950 GMC 1/2 ton pickup).

We have delusions of having it together for a Pushtruck at B-Ville.

Probably a pipe dream though (time frame wise).:(

    JC-32,

Thanks for the info. We should all be as lucky as you, to have a sweet ride like that.
    Good work.

    Deuceburnout,

Probably moot at this point, but I know of at least one company that makes adaptors for that engine, so you can put a modern auto tranny behind it.
Sounds like a cool swap, though. Pics, please, when you get it in.

    Nexxussian,

That project sounds like a thread unto itself.
Good luck. Would love to see the finished product here.

I'll have my Chevy at the Detroit Autorama in the basement this weekend, stop by and say hi!

  14. 6narow,
Thanks, the headers came from Tom Langdon (as did the aluminum side covers & carb linkage). These look just like Fenton cast iron headers (they just don't say Fenton on 'em).

    BlackP,

Even more cool....and easier to install than a one-piece, I bet.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------

    ChevyGirlRox,

Thanks for the heads up. Wish I was in Detroit.
I know I never get tired of lookkng at that car! ;)
Don't remember If I asked this last time, but I'm noticing something in the center of your wheels.
Are those star shaped Chevy "hub centers" ? (we never called 'em caps, when they're that small)
...and what are you running for exhaust?
    Doesn't sound, exactly...er, stock.

I don't know 'bout this one....that's a pretty sweet lookin' ride.
Maybe too sweet for an "FNG".
Its better that you park that rig at MY HOUSE ( ;) ) until you attain the status of "Alliance Member" or at least, "Grenade Inspector".

:D....just kiddin'. Nice work, gcrod. Very nice work and welcome to The HAMB.

The caps are spider caps from Riley's, nothing special
    http://www.riley-auto.com/Hubcaps.html

As for the exhaust, it definitely is not stock :D I have duals with glass packs, noisy side out! The exit the rear of the car under the bumper.

The car has a 3 speed manual transmission with the shifter on the floor.

Doesn't sound, exactly...er, stock. 6narowJust a FYI, originally, hub caps were just that, a cap that was threaded onto the hub to keep the grease in and on the bearings..........then they became "dust caps" and a shiny hub cap covered the nasty factory wheels. But then again, in the world of traditional hot rodding, there are lots of traditions and different names in different regions................gotta love it.

Megan, does the car feel like its got some extra umph? I've wondered about the performance of the engine since you got the car. By the way, your work on the car has really transformed it! Nice job.

Hell yeah! Gimme six to go baby! My 29 a build was inspired by this crazy clifford triple weber set-up we scored at the portland swap-meet. Gonna run a weed-burner 6 tube header and build some crazy stacks for the carbs. Should look like a pipe organ on steroids! 1970 300 with all the goodies and a 70 toploader 4speed. Hope to make billitproof in chehalis this year.

    Thank you Megan :D:D

I am sorry I missed it, but I'm somewhat torn, we got pop's B-Ville race lit off yesterday, so I can't say I wish I was there. Don't get me wrong, I wouldve liked to, but nothing is quite like zoomies and hilborn, inside the garrage.:D (yes, we had the door open )

Thanks again, that looks real nice.

    I have a 67 Firebird coupe, 3.8L (230) ohc 6, bone stock. Got it 33 years ago, when I was 17.
The car is currently undergoing restoration, and my current intent is to put the 230 back in it, and I have all the manifolds and stuff to do it as a Sprint 4bbl.
