Is this a badge or honor or just a really lame souvenir?

I see cars all the time with stickers (usually from the LA Roadster Show) on their headlights. Do you have to have a sticker on the headlight to be on the grounds? If so, why don't people peel the SOB's off after the show? Is being there really such an honor that people won't peel these things off.

What ever happened to the dash plaque?!?!

From what little i understand, when ever your car is picked for in the running for some award the judges will place a little sticker of some sort to let you know to stick around
for the final judging and or awards. some say that its an ego thing for the owners and thats why they leave them on.
    Don't know for sure?

That car was never in the LA Roadster Show as it has flat black paint......the LA Roadsters do not allow cars into the show in primer or flat paint....they must also be upholstered, and be true roadsters with the exceptions of the cabriolets up to 1937......

Deuce Daddy Don on here was a long time member and President of the LA Roadsters........he can chime in on this better than I can......

By the way, I have a coupe and have a couple of stickers on my driver's headlight........totally not allowed! No coupes are ever in the show......

The owner of the above car has completely overdone it with the headlight stickers......they are always on just the driver's side....

Obviously doesn't drive it enough to get road rash/grime on them. Stickers on headlights are stupid.

Ego thing for participants......there is no judging at the LA Roadster Show.....it is just an *exhibition*.....every participant gets a headlight sticker...

There is NO REGISTRATION fee for roadsters to get in the LA Roadster show. They put the sticker on the left headlight the first time you enter. After that, you can exit and enter easily ... because of the sticker. People drive their roadsters in on Friday and the event goes on thru Saturday and Sunday. At around 3 O'Clock or so ... you get your pewter mug. I have 3 ... and plan on getting at least one more.

It is 2500 miles one way from my house to LA ... so having a sticker is pretty cool IMHO.

This is the sign you see at Barstow California as you drive up onto I-40 ... coming out of California heading home.

So this car was picked for some type of award 10 times? Not sure if that is true.

That part makes sense to me.

Hey Randy, why not peel the sticker off & use the mug for a hood ornament? ;):p;)

I was pointing out to my uncle this weekend how that was just a way to keep track of the cars that has turned into something else with people collecting the stickers on the headlights. I wouldn't do it on my car, to each his own.

yea, i dont know about you guys... but its progress, and sometimes it ****s. badly

stickers are cool, but they dont take the place of a nice dash plaque. i dig stickers... i have a door here at our new place in WI i have started to cover in car show and product stickers...

bring back show plaques... i'd pop an extra $5 outta my wallet to register for a show for one.

PS. Thanks to the shows that still have em... billetproof (circa KIRK!), HAMB Drags and the Rust Revival. im sure there are more, but i dont have knowledge of em.

I have two on my roadster's left headlight for 2001 and 2006. I earned them driving a total of about 7,000 miles each trip including a week's worth of running around SoCal while we were out there for the Roadster Show. Some may say they are gay and some an ego thing. All I know is set your **** in a roadster for 7,000 miles in two weeks or less and you will feel like you earned them too. Hope to make 2014.

OK, if you trek across country to be there, I can understand maybe keeping one. More than one though & I'd have to swap my headlight lenses after the show.

Randy, That photo was taken from your truck, right? I say that because I thought you trailered your car out for the show.

  20. Status symbol. Nothing wrond with it I guess, just not my thing. I'd probably leave one on too, (for a while.) The guy who owns the little truck has just taken it to the extreme. He was probably the middle child.

I also went to the roadster show in 07 for the 50th, One car from delaware, 3 from maryland, 3 from kentucky. They were gone for 2 weeks some longer. Most left the stickers on for about a year then removed them or just saved the lens. But to have 4 or 5 on there is kinda stupid. Not too many people this far east can say they drove out and back especially in a open roadster. I flew out and still catch hell from my buddys but I was home in 6 hours.

Yes, they are put on each Roadster as it comes through the gate. To some it is a "Badge of Honor" that there car was nice enough to make it into the LA Roadster show, to others it might be an ego stroke (not sure why that would be true), and to still others it might mean something else.
The last couple of years I have driven the little roadster pickup that I built for a friend. He has left them on as it has been a conversation starter with other Rodders at different events.
What really amazes me is all the opinionated people on here that have to call them Gay, Stupid, or whatever. What the hell difference does it make and why does it upset your day so much that you have to say such stupid things? If the owner likes the stickers on his headlight, that's his perogative, and who cares. Get over it!

same reasoning that racers, pilots, shooters, etc have "scare jackets" - patches from events attended, group memberships, accomplishments...etc - EGO for sure...it's how we let YOU know just how important WE are...

I've gotten a few but the only one that stayed on the car (so far) was the 50th anniversary one. Kinda cool looking. I also don't get the multiples. There's a few guys in our club that have both headlights covered w/ them. When I get home from the event- I remove them & stick it on the cabinet door in garage w/ the rest of them. Now the mugs are real collector's items, more so than the sticker IMO- and they are free (with a roadster entering show both days).
No awards & free to enter- they aren't any kind of indication of an award. Just means you showed up w/ a shiny roadster that was not under construction.

Some might think a HAMB plate on the firewall or dash is stupid. Different strokes.

  28. Living in So Cal I see them all of the time, on "T's", RPU's, even coupes. These guys have 4 or 5 on the headlights. Must make these guys think they're special. Most of the roadsters seem to have one from the last show or none.

Why would this bother anybody as much as this thread shows. It is his car, let him have his little stickers.

I THINK ITS LAME. Randy if you drove out in your roadster i'd be impressed but i'm not if you trailered it.
