Keep in mind that our current President has made many decisions in the past to restrict your rights to bear arms and procure the ammunition to use them. I would expect this trend to continue. Up to a point.

That ****s, I've been working at the arena, luckily I voted yes for it. They have been keeping me plenty busy for now. Once it's done I'm hoping to start on the hospital out west. Where were you working at?

Apparently he does not grasp the concept of a "Cons***utional right."

"Restrictions of the powers of the State Governments:
    (1) State cons***utions and laws may not conflict with any provision of the U.S. Cons***ution or U.S. laws pursuant to it.[7]"

    http://www.cons***ution.org/powright.htm

There are several others to see here. Please look into Nancy Pelosi's stance as well.

There is a move to keep guns legal and outlaw ownership and/or use of ammunition. It has already started. This is moving even further off-topic though, I would be happy to continue via PMs.

I must admit that you made me laugh to hear that you told us about being laid off before your wife! :D

AIG hired people to make a bomb. Those same people are the only ones who know how to difuse the bomb. Taxpayers are at the mercy of these people. I hope the IRS audits them and gets it all back (plus interest and penalty).

I to got laid off this week after a month of not knowing what they were going to do, was then told I would have to wait for my final payout as they didnt have the cash. Its nearly $10,000-00 with what they owe for holiday days outstanding
Went into town yesterday and while having a coffee watched a young mother who clearly had cancer playing with her infant daughter.
Just got home today and logged onto the Hamb and read that Hambandy had p***ed away.
Well for what ever reason thats when it all caught up, sat there and balled my eyes out.
**** everthing its time to get up and fight.

    DO THE SAME

I'm sorry to hear that. I have been unfortunate enough to have worked at three companies in my carrer that have closed. So I know how you're feeling. Believe me, you'll survive. But to put things in perspective there's much more depressing news on this board right now.

  14. JC, I understand how angry you must feel. My oldest son has 3 more days at the only job he has ever had since high school (9 years). He is broke and just wants to find a new job, but may be looking for a long time. Hope he doesnt loose his home and rods. I have taken a 50% drop in pay these last several months and hope I can make enough to help him through this. I am not a deeply religious man but I sure do a lot of praying for all of those that are in need in these tough times. Keep your head up and I will say a prayer for you too. Hang in there buddy, my best wishes for you and all those in need.

If Obama was smart, he wouldn't let AIG have another penny! Let 'em go belly up. These leeches don't deserve to be in business!

Son-in -law was laid off after 7 yrs at the same job. He looks everyday, but no luck so far. I have an investment, made through a local bank several yrs. ago, with AIG. I'm scared to check on the status of the deal, because I can ill afford to lose the money. The Govt. seems to be carrying on business as usual and you guys are still becoming un-employed while the Kool-Aid drinkers continue to post on the H.A.M.B., sayng that the new guys will fix it...I doubt it. Pete Townsend and Roger Daltry probably said it best..."Meet the new boss...Same as the old boss".

Senator Chris Dodd set it up in the "Bail Out Legislation" for grandfathering in the AIG folks bonuses that were called for in their contracts. President Oboma signed the bill. What flavor is that Kool-Aid you're drinkin'?

Hang in there, friend. You will just find something better.
You and hundreds of thousands of others are facing the same challenges.
This whole calamity started in the 80's and its come to this. The history books will tell the tale. The same folks who ran this place into the ground are still out there and they are sitting pretty counting their money.

I wish I could go back to 1965. We didn't question if we were going to the drags each weekend. We just had to pick which strip we wanted to go to.
We had Lions, Fontana, Irwindale or Pomona. A/FXers were king along with the top fuel cars. Gas was 26 cents a gallon. Your parents ran the household and teachers ran the schools. We respected and listened to them...and we liked living that way. We didn't have gardners or cell phones and answering machines were still 10 years away from being produced. We didn't care, we didn't know. We were happy. Sure, we had Viet Nam and the draft, but you did what you were supposed to. The worst thing we did was hang out with eachother, drink a few beers, even though we weren't old enough, but we behaved, worked or went to school or both.
The term urban sprawl hadn't been invented yet. We heard that there were gangs in parts of L.A. and sometimes someone would be beat up or stabbed, or at least thats what we'd hear on the AM radio...but that was nowhere near where we lived. We didn't have drive-bys, we had drive-ins, both diners and movies. Muscle cars were just starting to really fly out of the Big 3's factorys...life was grand in 1965.

All I know is this is what we have. Right here. Right now. Its not 1965, and its not ever going to be again. So, instead of trying to lay the blame on our national mess on anyone's doorstep, lets give the fellow that started this thread our support and get off eachother's backs.

The train left the station in this wonderful Country when we lost respect for our parents, elders, the police, teachers, rules and common sense and ethics. Mom's started working because we wanted more "stuff"and more "stuff" and bigger houses required more money...so there goes Mom to work. The kids started running the schools and the lawyers were on this kid's side. "How dare you tell my son that he's going to get detention! I'll sue the school district"...and so it goes.......all downhill.
The HAMB is a community and like any community, it's quality of life and well-being is driven by it's ability to communicate, understand and share one's knowledge and opinions with reason, wit and at least some sense of goodwill.
    Sorry to be long winded...
So, to you thread starter, good luck to you. Like I said earlier, you'll end up in a better place in life.

Exactly! I service high end cars for some enthusiasts and I was right into a rather special mercedes last week .Emails and phone calls to the owner went unanswered ,by Friday I getting stressed by this, then the owner comes into the shop on saturday ( I work 14/7 ) and says he was laid off on wednesday ...ooops!,I cut a chunk off his bill and it was still 4 figures but he paid me cash (noice!) and says he doesn't know what he will do.This is a top exec with a commerce organisation ,not a private company. And he has young kids mortgage etc so It is affecting all folks all over the world .
The important thing is to learn how to chop down all expense ,everything especially power, and other utilities. Start buying real food instead of processed stuff and let maccas etc go bust. Once you get the hang of living cheap life becomes interesting in good way .If and when things settle down ( I won't hold my breath, the great depression lasted 20 years ) you will be on a better footing . Good luck! :)

  29. It's been going on a lot longer than just that, your buddy Carter and Clinton were there first dumping us in the toilet why don't you blame them? right side left side it don't matter this country is in a mess and their are more to blame than just Bush. I'll give the new guy a chance but so far I'm not to impressed. oh by the way AIG also paid 11 workers 1 mil bonus and they don't even work there no more!!
