I've only posted a few pics here and there in the past so I wanted to put together a string of pics showing the progress I've made so far. My intention is to get some feedback (aka opinions, I ain't scared) and maybe some ideas. I'm planning on lowering it (obviously), suede/semi gloss paint, www tires, hub caps, etc. Original running motor and 3 speed OD still in the car.

The day I brought it home.

The chop was started already, wasn't as bad as I though it would be...

Rounded the hood corners today and as long as I was there I filled the trim holes in the hood. After that I realized the gap was kind of screwed up and being the hood fit perfect everywhere but the front edge I just built out the bottom lip to match the hood.

Also rebuilt the front brakes and cleaned and repacked the front bearings.

    Busy but very gratifying day.....

Update: Finished the bodywork on the nose. Put it in primer to see how it looks.

Quarter and trunk done and in primer.

Also finished the front brakes and wheel bearings, along with adjusting the door strikers so the doors close nice and tight.

    'til next time...

Rockers were shot, had a friend of mine make up some new ones and the floors were decent. Just had to replace the drivers front side.

    New rockers...

    Repaired wheel wells...

Lots of time spent making the door gaps look right....
Am I being too much of a stickler?

Beautiful job. I too am doing a '50 moredoor Merc and have a huge thread on the progress of my chop. Its funny, we both did it different ways, and both are coming out nice. I've heard that no two people chop a top the same way. I guess as long as it comes out nice, who cares? Keep up the good work, and the pictures......I'm always looking for ideas!
